As for swearing oaths on the Koran in the British house of Parliament, do you know what is in that book? Have you ever read it?

I'm an atheist and I can pluck that out of my memory with no effort whatsoever.

You know as well as I do that interpretation is an endless concept.
At one end, you have peaceful Christians and Muslims who manage easily to swerve the more outrageous asks of their book of choice, and at the other end you have people who like hurting and killing people who hang misinterpretations of religious books on their murderous behaviour.

Jesus does say in Matthew 5 that he has come to reinforce Mosaic law and encourages everyone to live by it. Mosaic Law, by the way, instructs you to kill people who worship other gods and burn their cities to the ground (along with a bunch of other horrible things) in Deuteronomy 13.
It is true though that Christians who actually behave accordingly are (thankfully) extremely rare in the modern world. The proportion of the world's Muslims who are willing to cut your fingers off for disbelieving is very likely higher than the proportion of Christians who are willing to burn your city down and kill everyone inside, though I suspect it is still a minority by quite some way...

Krom, it is a minority who do it, but the number supporting their actions is far higher than you might imagine.

AH; The vast difference between Christianity as practised, and Islam is that only the seriously mentally unbalanced would even consider contemplating action on what may have been written in the old testament. Whereas sadly most Muslims take their book seriously, hence the atrocities we have seen - 3,000 people killed in New York, thousands of Christians and other non-Muslims killed in the Middle East, for no other reason than that they were considered to be 'infidels'. Mass beheadings by Isis, crucifixions and crimes so horrible that I wouldn't want to repeat them.

I’ll paraphrase the question I asked you in response to that, which remains unanswered, Can you name any mainstream Christian denomination that does that? People better informed than you aren’t patronising you when they disagree with your ‘opinions’ – they’re telling you, with good and demonstrable reason, that your opinions do not reflect reality.
