I had the first vaccination yesterday afternoon and have had the worst night I can ever recall. Still awake at 3.30 and got up for the loo, and couldn't manage more than an hour or hour and a quarter segments all night. I had a thumping headache and even though I took a hot water bottle to bed, I was cold and shivery. Every time I woke up, I had to go to the loo - 5 in all but I didn't have the energy to go downstairs to get some paracetamol. Eventually I soaked a flannel in cold water and kept that on my head but this morning, head still thumping and neck stiff. Anyone had similar symptoms and how long are they likely to last. I've taken some paracetamol now.

They do give you a leaflet listing the common side effects but if you are lucky, you won't suffer any of them.
Anyway, surely the bottom line is that a few hours of feeling ropey is better than ending up in hospital on a ventilator.

I had a good night and feel much better today although still a bit tired. Thanks everyone for your good wishes and inputs.
Glad to hear it. :-)
I was told when I had mine yesterday that it was the Astra Zeneca vaccine. I was given a leaflet about what to expect regarding reactions,, and I was told that if they continued for 3 days to get in touch with my Doctor.
Headaches were amongst the symptoms and I was advised to take paracetamol if this happened.
I have been lucky, and not had any reaction whatsoever. I hope that you will be feeling better soon, but if the symptoms persist get in touch with your Doctor.
I am booked in to have my second jab on the 18th April.

We have a large apple tree in the garden -I can use that for my swinging!
I will happily accept two weeks of feeling poorly, if it protects me from Covid.
