Acronyms

Why is it considered acceptable to accept the use of acronyms such as 5C (fifth columnist), TROB (the right on brigade), TROP (the religion of peace), and so on?
Such usages are obviously aimed at avoiding censure as provocative phrases. They are also cowardly, as their users try to hide their meanings from newcomers, whilst emitting dog- whistles to those in the know.
If some of these terms were spelled out honestly, I suspect they might be frowned on by Mods.

TTT is referring to people who refuse to work and take all they can get. Yes, I would call them scum.

//If it's directed towards another member then it is abusive and should be removed. //
I've never seen it used on a personal level. Its a generalisation.
I must admit I don't always understand what TTT is talking about - and I've said so several times - but I don't like to see anyone on the receiving end of unwarranted censure as I think TTT often is.

On balance I'd rather things like "workshy scum" were left in, obnoxious as they are, provided, as the Ed says, they are not directed at individuals. Then people can be taken to task as necessary.
Arguably if a post contains nothing but something offensive or abusive then it should go as removing it will not detract from the discussion.
But discussions can be spoiled by the removing of a post which might contain other stuff besides.
I'd repeat what I said earlier that anything else that adds to obscurity, like unfamiliar acronyms, should be discouraged.
