Weight Gain?
36 Answers
Recently my family have started to tease me about how much weight I seemed to have gained. To me it doesn’t feel like too much over the past two years. So my questions are, have I gained weight? And also if you have should I be concerned about how much weight I’ve put on and that I wouldn’t have noticed it if it was that noticeable already?

It's easy to put on weight without noticing it much oneself. For example, I knew that I'd put on a bit of weight (largely due to cancer treatments) but I didn't recognise just how much until I happened to catch sight of my profile in a store's full length mirror. So, if others say that you've been putting on weight, it's highly likely to be true. Whether that...

It boils down to whether you are happy with your look and do you have health concerns about carrying too much weight? The first picture with the red crop top you are clearly very slim - but that is also the shape that swamps instagram ect, often with the pouty lips and heavily beauty filtered faces. It's what many young girls aspire to look like but it's not normal or even attractive on a real woman. The last picture, were that me, yes I'd feel fed up in comparison to when I used to be slim. But how do you feel about it?
Thank you for your answer Prudie. I must admit I always aspired to be like the Instagram models that you mentioned when I was younger and starved myself quite a bit hence why I was so boney in the first picture. I quickly came to realise that this was not realistic and stopped starving myself. I’m not happy where I am now but am not unhappy enough to make significant changes to my lifestyle due to working hard long hours. I hadn’t noticed my weight gain do to my work conditions and always wearing baggy clothing. However that being said if I did get bigger (and I noticed it this time) I would definitely look to make a change to my current lifestyle.
Whether you are comfortable or not with your weight...ditch the takeaways. They are just the worst possible food to have on a regular basis...which you seem to claim to be doing. Limit to treat only and try to eat freshly made food. That alone may make a difference in your body shape...and health.
While my own weight is not always my ideal, I do know, by how I feel, if I've gained weight. And I certainly know by how my clothes feel.

I think it’s rather mean of your family to tease you about putting on weight, when you were clearly underweight and starving yourself a few years ago.
Instead of takeaways have healthy food ready for when you get home late from work. Take some time to prepare chicken drumsticks, veggie chilli, roasted veg, salad etc.

Can you set aside time either before work, or on the weekend, to do some batch cooking for basic meals? You could make a big pot of mince and divide it into chilli/Bolognese/mince with onions. Or you can make meatballs or meatloaf and freeze in portions. Chicken thighs or breast quarters done in the slow cooker can be the basis of salads in warm weather, or shredded and added to a simple cream or cheese sauce and served with green veg. Eggs are great for quick meals, and you could make quiche or frittata and have meals for several days. If you like fish, it's perfect for getting a meal done in 20-30 minutes.
