I have very vague memory of a song called " Tommy Cowie's Car" . I think it was by a North Eastern Band and would have been late 70's / early 80's.

Was this a real song or just a trick of memory?

It was by the Toy Dolls and was called
"Tommy Kowey's car"
Google it with the correct spelling, there is loads on the net about it.

Ah, The Toy Dolls .I have the song at home its great. Ill have to dig all their stuff out tonight :)
