Can anybody help....i have recently bought an xbox 360 and i want to get onto xbox live and i want to do this by connecting an ethernet cable from the 360 to the pc using ICS..i have tried in vain to find such a cable but i cant find a single one that will perform this task..if anybody could give me a make and model and stockist for such a cable i will try my best, using my connections,to get a knighthood for this person...no promises though..
you need crossover network cable available from most good stockists !
btw do you connect to t'internet by modem or router ? if its modem then you do need this cable but if its router then any std network cable will do,i believe.xbox live via router is an absolute breeze as you can auto config thru the dash but via ics can be a real ball ache !
thanks matt...ball ache is just the start of it...i am connecting with a modem and im just about fit to tear my hair out....i have already bought 2 different ethernet cables, one from game where the salesman promised me it was the correcty cable only to find when i got it home it was nothing of the kind!+
Just buy a plain Ethernet cable (RJ45) plug one end into the ethernet port on the back of your pc and the other to the back of your 360, you have to allow ICS on your PC's internet options first.
Start>Connect to>Show all connections>right click on the connection you are using (The one that is enabled and in use) and click properties click onto the Advanced tab and tick the first box to allow other network users to share your connection.
Press OK and presto.
