can you lay it on top of ceramic floor tiles? any do's and don'ts?

Sure, if the tiled floor is sound. I'm assuming you're speaking of the type of laminate that just snaps together at the seams and doesn't require gluing or nailin, obviously. Be sure to use the bubble type thin padding that's recommended to cut down on the noise, other than that, go for it... Best of luck!

cheers! trying to get some inspiration for my kitchen. i don't have much money to do it, but i thought what i can change, i will! thanks for the advice:)
You might need to level the floor first, if you are using a thin laminate, as the laminate might be pressed into the tile joints. This could be done by bonding a layer of hardboard to the tiles, then laying the laminate on this.
Go with Clanad. u will put a 3-5 mm foam underlay between the tiles and the laminate.
