Driving in the USA

Hi, going to Los Angeles at the end of the month and was thinking of renting a car, does anyone know if I will need a international driving licence or will my 2 part (photocard and paper) full UK licence that I have held for 5 years do ?

Anything else I need to consider too ?

When I was there about 3 years ago I just had my UK license and my passport

How old are you?

There may be a problem if you are under a certain age (25?) as some car hire companies wont hire to young people.

You won�t need an International Drivers licence � your photocard & paper licence are all you need.
I have hired many times in the USA and normally don�t even get asked to produce the paper part of the licence.

My advice would be to organise the hire before you go and make sure you don�t get stung for insurance � check that it is included in the price quoted (just turning up at the hire desk will normally entitle you to their most expensive tariff).

Search the web for the best deals, I would recommend either Holidayautos.co.uk or Carhiredirect.co.uk � their prices are hard to beat.
