Would it be sexist and ageist to announce that women and children had priority over who gets to go in the lifeboats first?

The Titanic sank because it was going too fast. Because it was on it's maiden voyage, the idiotic captain wanted to get to America in record time. There would have been enough lifeboats, but because it was considered unsinkable, they didn't bother to put on the full quota. There is recorded evidence that many men from the Titanic survived, nearly all of them were millionaires - what a surprise!
Captain Smith was'nt on the bridge at the time she struck the ice berg, if she had struck the berg head on it's true she probably would not have sank, if Lightholer had been on watch he may well have chosen that plan of action (he served on the sailing ship Holt Hill), she was ging too fast and with an inadequate watch, she was never going to cross the Atlantic in record time as she was much too slow (Titanic was designed for comfort not speed), with regard to the lifeboats she exceeded board of trade regulations by some margin, the "Wellin davitts" that were on the vessel were designed to carry enough lifeboats for all but were not fitted due to them making the decks look ugly.
At the time of the sinking many suffragettes complained that the women should have stayed with the men to demonstrate their strength and equality.

Also the Chinese attaches found the attitude of the west quite unusual as to their mind the order should have been men first (to carry on the family name), children second (ditto) and then the women.
If memory serves the people of the Netherlands came in for some stern criticism for their methods of escape, when in truth there were no Dutch on board. The people in question were German and when challenged would reply "Deutsche".
Lifeboats, I think, can only be launched if the list of the ship allows it too, if you have a heavy list to starboard then you can't launch the boats on the port side, unless they have new kind of davitt etc.
I dare say their's someone who knows more about modern shipping than me who can help on that score.
