For those of you who don't fully know the story about Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen, his real name was Larry Bulsaria. He died of AIDS on Monday November 25th 1991 at the age of 45. This was also the 17th birthday of a friend of mine, who was a big fan, so some birthday present, eh? He had announed to the press only 2 days earlier that he had been diagnosed with full blown AIDS.

The world was never the same without him!

Rugeley boy, when Freddie died I was working as a telephonist/receptionist. I was having a conversation about his death and about him being gay. Can't tell you what was being said by the other person, this is a family site!

Anyway, after a couple of minutes the switchboard started flashing. My boss said to me, in a stern voice, "Do you know we can hear your conversation about Freddie Mercury all over the site?"

The tannoy had been live and I hadn't realised. Boy, did I feel daft!
