lol.....I remember watching them do eggs on 'Hells Kitchen' and he said they should be poached in butter.
Well if you lot want hardened arteries carry on with the lard and butter. :o/
If you don't know how you like your eggs to be fried - suggest you try both methods and see which one you prefer - will taste slightly different.

Thank you all for the entertainment, and for some useful info about not burning the butter.

I will give it a try tomorrow a.m. and let you know how it pans out. Pans out gettit ?

Lard every time.....it's the only reason I ever buy it (well except for baking with)
yeah dewi i get it but don't eggcourage this lot of nutters
You can do them in butter. If you add a little olive oil to it. It helps to prevent the butter burning. I personally just use veg oil.
Was told by a top TV chef once that the only way to "fry" an egg was to poach it in butter. As above, a little olive oil in the butter stops it burning
