bouncy floorboards

Hi,I have recently moved into a privately rented property,which I thought was perfect to start with but it soon became apparent that the floor would bounce when my partner walked,and also when my children are playing. A few people(friends/family) have said I need to get it soon to as it very dangerous,it feels as if the josters(not sure if thats the correct word) have gone and the floor could just cave in at any time,this seems a bit far fetched to me,has anybody got any experience or advice please??

Is it a wooden floor or carpetted? It could be a problem with a solid wood floor, a lot of them swell after they've been laid and become bouncy

Or....if it's a laminate floor, sometimes they are laid over rubbery underlay so there is a slight spring in them and nothing to worry about.
