Try charcoal tablets or wind ease, colofac is an antispazmodic for stomach cramps associated with IBS. I look pregnant sometimes my stomach bloats so much!
I haven't tried that one. What sort of preparation is it I wonder? Here's a few things which MIGHT help. I reckon half the polulation has IBS! I like Beneflora - a probiotic (letting the good bacteria in the gut proliferate) which has the advantage of only being taken for about 7 days in the month. A gastro-enterologist recommended that to me. Also another one - Aloe Pure colon cleanse juice (Health shops would have one or the other.) Take it easy on the amount of food consumed at one time. Chew well. It's easy to gulp when we are rushed. Don't talk a lot whilst you eat (taking too much air in). Take it easy on the wheat. Try a rye or soda bread. Supermarket bread might look nice but has drawbacks. More fruit and veg. - less dairy produce and meat. Most of the bloating is due to overloading the alimentary canal. Take it easy on drinking at the same time as having food but drink a generous quantity of water in between meals. You will have to juggle a bit with your diet to suit you. The trouble is we all get into bad food habits when we are young enough to cope but as the system gets less than new.... Any of us shouldn't need the taking of digestion stuff, and it might be counter-productive in the end.
My stomach just seems to be swollen constantly. I'm slim everywhere else, but look a few months pregnant and it's getting me down. I don't think I have IBS, although I can't stomach strong or spicy foods and am quite windy. Anyway, I thought I would try these tablets without bothering my doctor, as you can buy them over the counter, but I need to know if they really work.
Thanks Flaming, we must've posted at the same time! Thanks for all your answers guys. Anyway, I'm going to scrutinize my diet and try eating and drinking healthier from now on!
I forgot to say shazzabell that you ought to go to the doc. if you don't have much success with the new combinations. A bit of self-help is good but nothing should go on too long without professional advice. They do get paid, you know! Anything that's getting you down for a while ..... dunno what age you are, but some ladies don't get on with the Pill ... some older ones don't get on with HRT. A change of brand of any medication you are taking could be called for. He could tell by the feel of your tum what is the likeliest cause.
I'm going to give the Colofac a go for a couple of weeks, then if there's no improvement go to the doctor's. I was on the pill for about 12 years and have been off it for about 6 months, although I was still bloated when on it. Thanks again for the advice Flaming.
