My microwave is getting old and is getting a bit stained inside. it isn't anything that can be washed off, but I doubt if I can use bleach to brighten the inside up. How can I clean it.

I heard vinegar is good for cleaning a microwave - my dad got a book called '100 ways to use vinegar' and that appeared to be one of them! hope it works
I use bicarbonate of soda. Put a little on a damp cloth and wipe over then rinse off with a clean damp cloth.
I heard you can microwave a bowl of water with a lemon in it cut in half to help degrease it

237, funnily enough I've just done that as I've just cooked the cat's fish ... pongy. But it's not greasy inside, the white inside colour seems to have gone a bit browny in places. I have got the vinegar book somewhere .. I will try that and the bicarb. Thanks.
get yourself a tub of 'Astonish' paste cleaner or 'The Pink Stuff' which is equally as good. Astonish is available at Wilkinsons & the Pink Stuff I get from a local hardware store. both contain silica so kind to your hands! brilliant stuff for all manner of cleaning
If its enamel (like an oven) use oven cleaner
If it's stainless steel, I use Fairy Power .
