i reversed into somebody in a local carpark ,totally my fault

Its my 1st incident in 27 years of driving and i'm not sure what happens next , we swapped details , is there anything i need to do now or do i just wait for the insurance company to contact me

You should report it to your insurance company, these days an awful lot of things are done over the phone. They will then deal with it.

The wait for your premium to go up :-(

Yes, you must tell your insurance company, even if the other person doesn't claim they need to know.
^ PS, and then, if you get any correspondence from either the other person, or their insurance company, or solicitors acting for them, you just send the letters straight to your insurance company to deal with - you don't have to do anything else with them yourself.
If its not to expensive neither should tell insurance & settle cash, otherwise its on your records for 5 years & a claim against you, and a premium hike!
