Thanks JimT.
And I agree with Andy. The speaker should have stepped in and done what Andy has suggested would be correct.
"Putting someone down like that [in the House of Commons] is not acceptable"

Well, if MPs have to stop putting each other down, at least Parliamentary sittings will be shorter.

JJ - I feel you are deliberatly ignoring the points i am making.

No-one - least of all MP's who are hardly shrinking violets - have any problem with robust debate, it is the very bedrock of democracy and Parliamentary proceedure.

But this was not debate, it was being loudly pompous and unfunny in an attempt to quietn an MP who was pointing out that the PM's last remark was in fact, not true.

Debate, vigourous and passionate is absolutely fine and welcome.

Shouting down a Member who is pointing out an inaccuracy is not - it's really as simple as that.

So your happy for the Prime minister to censor any debate about his wrong doings.
A typical no news day .Will they be not be allowed to say order order in case it annoys the TT amongst those present .Churchils run in with Lady Astor is still quoted ,dont think this calm down dear will reach those heights .Come on David say summit which will be quoted over and over again .
