Simple Mobile?
11 Answers
Is there such a thing as a simple mobile phone? I've had a mobile for several years but hardly ever use it because it's so complex I can't be bothered with it. The instruction book has about 200 pages with references I don't understand and don't wish to use.
I'd like one to simply make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, and possibly able to include a picture. I've no wish to go round holding one to my ear all day looking as though I have ear-ache!
Suggestions welcome.

I got one for my son, for Christmas. It's a bog standard phone, which allows him to text (mainly his nan and cousins) and also has picture messaging.
It' s a nice little phone, and if a ten year old can pick it up within 5 minutes, I don't think you'll have a problem!

Coldicote, I too like a simple phone. I have a samsung D600, and I wore out one so got another a week ago on ebay in good condition. It is easy to use for phone calls, texts and camera (or video if you want to). It does also have things like alarm, voice recorder and even a link to internet if you want it, which I dont.
@Coldicote - iPads are indeed more geared towards top of the range. I too would go with a Nokia (almost all these days will have internet access, to allow you to send those emails and texts) as I find them the most user friendly. Another thing to consider is whether or not you want a touchscreen...they can be fiddly to get used to.
I would second the recommendation for going into Carphone Warehouse as you're more likely to get objective advice there. If you decide you want a Nokia XXXX after going there, you can always check out prices in other shops eg Vodafone before buying. I used to work in mobile distribution so I know it can be a minefield but don't be swayed by salespeople and their convincing you that you want a smartphone - you don't.
