We have found a house we want to buy but it has no gas so I would have to cook with electric, this is putting me off. I could get a fan assisted oven and hob but my past experience of electric is not good, I think I would really miss gas. Can anyone help with their experience of fan assisted coooking please.

In my adult life I have cooked with both gas and electric and its always been fine except with one unhappy incident with a a halogen top/fan oven (think it was electrolux) where the oven used to leak steam and muck all over the floor. My current one is a rangemaster combi, gas top electric ovens which was entirely my choice, you can turn the fan off on one of the ovens but I usually use the other one. Before that I had a stoves cooker, the build quality wasn't as good but the fan oven was fine. If the rest of the house is perfect (how is it heated? will it be expensive to heat?) then I wouldn't let it put me off.
We have a Neff FA oven and halogen hob. Next best thing to gas.
I have the same as zacs and would NEVER go back to gas, having been a lifelong gas cooker user until we had the kitchen redone a few years ago. The hob is far easier to clean than a gas one too, a quick wipe over and it's good as new. And very quick to respond.
Electric fan ovens are brilliant.
I have an electric fan oven and love it. Everything cooks in less time than the recipe says. And after being a lifelong gas hob user, I now have a lovely halogen hob which I adore. It is soooooooo easy to clean!
