I can assure you I was doing nearly 70 and the Hgv was up my backside so that particular one was most certainly not governed at 56 mph don't know where the hell he thought I could go to get out of his or her way unless of cause I could of taken off and flew over the rest of the traffic...nice thought
Humber although not an Issue, the Speed limit in the EU is 80Ks for HGVs, That rule I understand is to be brought into the UK apart from what you say about saving fuel which is correct.
A quick swatch at the rear of an ASDA artic and youl'll see a sticker to the effect that the company takes YOUR safety seriously and therefore speed limits on trunks roads will be 40 mph, dual carriageways 50 mph and motorways 60mph.
They must be fairly well monitored as anyone who has the joy of sitting at 40 mph on the A9 for many miles will tell you.
My problem with them is that my vehicle is restricted to 50 mph on trunk roads and 56 overall but the big boys won't allow me to pass on the dual carriageway and let me get on my way before they slow back down to 40.
There's not a massive difference in the time it takes me to drive the route but, as the signs say, 'frustration causes accidents'.
They are all tracked Douglas, a lot of the public do not understand this & think the driver is been bloody awkward, "to the General Public" they are not, if they are caught going over the limit, the company knows excacly where the truck is, the driver can loose his job.
