I would like to acknowledge that there are some accounts that have been created by our moderators, to help them control the community, without breaking their normal identity.

Having multiple AnswerBank accounts is against site rules. However, these accounts have been approved by the Editors.

These moderators will be added to this thread, and you should give them as much respect as you would give to an Editor.

If you are a moderator, and would like to have one of these accounts, please send us an email.

Zacsmaster - It looks like I started all of this last night. In the past I removed posts and had to watch as a row breaks out about who was responsible and why. I can now use my usual name to remove the posts and explain why in my secretmod name. I will also be able to warn posters to kerb their tempers and it might result in less suspensions happening.

A section that claims it's for natter and nonsense kind of implies conversation and sharing bits and pieces about ourselves. A place to relax and talk about things we may have in common. Personal details can't help but sneak in, and AB might be a pretty dull place otherwise. None of us come here to be the victims of someone putting 2 and 2 together and getting 15.
I had accusations similar to Lottie simply because I've treated others as equals on here...I understand Lottie frustration.

'ZM. Just friendly banter. Ed says mods can't tell the difference, apparently!!'

Then I would suggest some more competent Mods are required!
I understand it too, pasta, but I’ve learnt to take it for what it is now. Spitefulness. Not worth worrying about.

No I won't stay away. Decided there are too many genuine nice posters on here, and why should just one nasty person stop me. I shall just report, as suggested, if it keeps happening, and moderators can use their knowledge and integrity. I hate reporting though!,

I'm off to Bobbi's music thread.....

SPARE ED, "Where do we draw the line between friendly banter and sly digs? You can't expect the Editors to be aware of every member's relationship with other users on and off The AnswerBank."

MISSTERIOUS, "ZM. Just friendly banter. Ed says mods can't tell the difference, apparently!!"

Do you expect the EDs and Mods to draw up a huge Venn diagram or a tree, showing who doesn't get on with specific folk?

Perhaps the Mods could create an excel spreadsheet with Member A and Member B fields to enter specific names into to see if a huge, flashing "animosty" or "friendly banter" message pops up?
Good point, TCL.

And perhaps people should only take the moral high ground if they're prepared to walk it themselves.
Bring back B00
I mentioned B00 yesterday, Roy. She was well liked.
17.14 well its not me! Check it out.
//I mentioned B00 yesterday, Roy. She was well liked.//

How do you know she was well liked? Did you conduct a poll?
Yes.
I can't imagine anyone not liking BOO. Salt of the earth. She said it like it was. Wish she was here too.
I liked B00. She was nobody's fool.
Since I am a member of AB, you'll agree I should have been able to exercise my right to vote. No such invitation was afforded to me. Therefore I am bound to say, did you meddle with the ballot box?
"She said it like it was"

No use in 2022 I'm afraid, straight talking is frowned upon.
can we recognise that Jim is a particle physicist and the rest of us - arent. So basically when it comes to physics ( E = mc2 and all that) his view should prevail?

Biology perhaps not
