I would like to acknowledge that there are some accounts that have been created by our moderators, to help them control the community, without breaking their normal identity.

Having multiple AnswerBank accounts is against site rules. However, these accounts have been approved by the Editors.

These moderators will be added to this thread, and you should give them as much respect as you would give to an Editor.

in most discussions about Mods a few people claim that modding would be okay if only the reason for it was explained.

So now the Eds have set up a system that permits this.

A Mod can justify his or her decision but if someone is unhappy with that and then posts multiple questions picking apart that justification, I can see threads being derailed completely.

There’s your sticking point. Having innocuous posts deleted with zero explanation tends to irk.
Respect is generally a two-way street isn’t it?
You can’t expect to receive without giving.

FatticusInch, the whole idea of the 'secret mod' is to be able to give a reason why a post was removed. If members then decide that reason isn't good enough and they argue back, their answers will be removed.
