I would like to acknowledge that there are some accounts that have been created by our moderators, to help them control the community, without breaking their normal identity.

Having multiple AnswerBank accounts is against site rules. However, these accounts have been approved by the Editors.

These moderators will be added to this thread, and you should give them as much respect as you would give to an Editor.

Zacsmaster - It looks like I started all of this last night. In the past I removed posts and had to watch as a row breaks out about who was responsible and why. I can now use my usual name to remove the posts and explain why in my secretmod name. I will also be able to warn posters to kerb their tempers and it might result in less suspensions happening.

My recent exchange with a 'secret mod' which was then deleted along with naomi's thread (as this will no doubt be);

'Secret Mod' // Stop answering questions outside CB with a link to a music video.
You might think it is amusing, it won’t be.
Khandro – That is why I removed your Johnny Cash/Boy named Sue link the other day.//

For the benefit of the mystified; this is a reference by the AB 'thought police' to a current thread ; https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Law/Question1811421.html
about the acceptability of calling a child by hair colour, to which I gave a perfectly accurate anecdotal account of my own childhood experience in which I included how I had personally overcome it & turned the experience into a positive life outlook.
I concluded with linking it light-heartedly - but very relevantly, to a Johnnie Cash video of how a person had similarly used an insulting epithet to the advantage of the victim.

MissT......you are quite correct.

To me this a panic move and knee jerk reaction to falling members and critisism of the Moderator system which has never been addressed.

I do have sympathies with the management, but difficcult decisions over the years haven't been taken.
These new rules are a recipe for a precipitous popularity of AB.
khandro - Your anecdote had no place in a post in the law section. A legal question had been asked. It did not need a music video either.
Gness ‘ Do you not think the Eds would spot this and put and end to it...and probably the mod too?’

Who knows! We seem to have entered The Underneath (Stranger Things reference, there) in which all things are both possible and implausible at the same time.
‘We just need good moderation by good
moderators with no fancy titles. AB management needs to do some research and get a proper simple system running for 7 days a week’

I’ll second that, missT.
All this cloak & dagger stuff is completely unnecessary.

I don't understand what you don't understand.
The only time I will use this name is when I am explaining an action carried out under my usual name because the other one is the one that has the modding powers.
I assume it will be the same for anyone choosing to go down the same path.
KHANDRO, do you mean NAOMI's drumming up thread was deleted or one of your posts on that thread was deleted?
Khandro, I saw your post and just read it along with the rest but I didn’t know it had been removed. And they wonder why people are abandoning ship. Going by the post at 22.02 a little power is indeed a dangerous thing. Oh my!!
‘ The only time I will use this name is when I am explaining an action carried out under my usual name’

So why are you using it now, whoever you are?
Unless management faces the facts and acts professionally and quickly, I think AB will be no more. It's obviously already in quite serious financial difficulty. It's a shame.
Because I would prefer not to reveal my day to day name. And that is the name by which I act as a moderator.
One of the duties of a mod is to keep the more serious sections free from the nonsense and natter which is welcome in CB.
That is why Khandro's post was removed. Nothing to do with a power trip on my part.
Why the secrecy?
ZACS, SECRETMOD is explaining why he/she took the action that he/she did and therefore doing it under the new name.

He/she doesn't want to reveal his/her regular username hence this second name.

You can't please everyone.
It's got to be a good thing. If people can't understand why a post has been removed, it's surely better to have an explanation even if you don't agree with it than no explanation at all.
You should all watch The Capture. It's so much more easier to explain than the convoluted way this thread has gone ;o)
SPUNGLE, why do you need to know SECRETMOD's regular name, why do you need to know who any of the Mods are?

If a secret mod 'outs' themselves (secretly) while posting under their non-secret name, could a secret non-mod unsecretly mod the secret mod (unsecretly)? Just for clarification, thanks.
i am hoping that there are seven moderators and that they call them the secret seven and i bet they have baseball caps on also
Khandro’s post wasn’t nonsense and natter. If I remember correctly the subject was about a child who was called a not very nice name and Khandro recounted his similar experience - and added an appropriate YouTube link - all relevant to the topic. You need to understand, SecretMod, that you can’t tell people how to think. It doesn’t work.
No, in answer to your question, I don't want to know any secrets, I was just a little cloudy as to why there was a need for secrecy? But I guess any clarification would only serve to confuse those of us not party to the secrecy aspect. As in, it begs the question, why keep the Mod secret if we all know who it is?
