You may have to do a lot of weighing and entering food in but its worth the hassle when you can see your calories limits and stick to it. I've got some brilliant digital scales which you can go back to 0 in order to add different foods into a meal like when making up a salad.
Hi Notafish, Even if you are going in the wrong direction (join the club) I think it is important to keep talking here. People like us especially need the encouragement and ideas from our fellow onwards and downwards people and quite often they put a gain in the right perspective for us. Hope to see you here now.
Hi all, Can I join? I've just rejoin Slimming World, who I lost 3,5 stone with just over 2 years ago. Unfortunately it started to creep back on and I've re-gained 2st of it. So would be gratfully for some extra encouragement to get it back off. I was so happy with the weightt I'd lost before. I could walk uphill and climb stairs without getting out of breath. My Cloesterol has gone back up as has my Bloodpressure. So really need to get it back off.
How does this all work?
Thanks Jools

Hi Jools,
Welcome aboard. How does this work......well most of us weigh ourselves on Wed. and then we check in here and say if we have "won or lost" but you don't have to say how much you weigh or how much you loose or gain unless you want to. I might add that I have gone back to weighing myself on Sat. but check the weight in on Wed. Any information is entirely up to you. I think we are a mixture of all age groups. Wendilla and I are leading the over 60's,. When you subcribe you will see how we can encourage each other along the way. There are no jokers on this thread and we are all truly hoping to loose weight and lead a healthier life which I can see are your goals also. We even have our editor on board! We began this last summer when I wrote to health and beauty in with a moan and it just snowballed from there. I hope that you will become a known name here. Our motto is Onwards and Downwards.................

Also, to add to XStitchers accurate remarks:
We quite like running these "magazine" style threads, if you feel that another thread somewhere could do with the same attention, please let us know here:
[email protected]
For example, the Mo50's Club might be a contender? And we also run a twitching thread here: http://www.theanswerb...t/Question988334.html

Welcome JimJools yes it can creep back on so easily as I well know.I try to keep to the healthy eating lots of chicken fish veg and fruit but I write everything down each day .I lost 2 stone 3lbs from July till xmas then put 3lbs on at xmas but I got that off but now I am struggling to lose .I have not gained but I need to get another stone off. It is not easy in this weather.I have always believed in having a treat as that breaks the monotony and tonight I am going out to a carvery chinese meal but I will not have the desserts that they do as that would spoil it for me. Anyway keep with us and I am sure you will get rewards . Onwards ans Downwards.
Thanks for your welcome - Just back from shopping and made sure I didn't go for the all the naughty things I like :-(( Lots of veggies and fruit. I do alwasy tend to eat more Chicken and Turkey than I do red meat. I love fish too but OH isn't a fan so I end up having to do 2 different meals, so don't eat as much as I should. But I will be making more of an effort on the fish front. My main problem is I love cheese, desserts and chocolate. I'm one of the over 60's too xstitcher but I'm determined not to let that stop me. So - Onwards and Downwards. :-)))
Notafish you will get back on track. I have stayed the same a few weeks now . Went out last night for family outing at chinese resturant where you help yourself . I had bits of everything so that's me back on track from today. or I will be gaining.and that would not be a good idea so it's Onwards and Downwards now.
welcome JimJools. Im also with SW. I had my birthday this week and went for a lovely meal and wine. i think Ive put back on 2lbs but am determined to get it off again by next Wed, Even if Ive stayed the same as this week I`ll be happy, then onswards and downwards. My 60th birthday is this time next year so I want to be sixty and sexy by then. Ive at least 2 more stone to lose
Good luck to everyone

Hi Theotherhalf thats the best way to look at it .It took me from July to xmas to get my 2 stone off and I want another one off. Just because I am 73 does not mean I can't be bothered like what I have heard some of my friends say. I want to be able to look nice in clothes as long as I can and feel better for it .
Good for you Wendella - I feel the same, I'm 68 and I just want to look as good as I can and be as fit as I can. I don't like being this age but there is nothing I can do about that but I'm going into old age go kicking and screaming. I'm not giving up till I have to. Onwards and Downwards.
Thanks for your Welcome TheOtherHalf and I hope you had a very Happy Birthday.

Can you remember when we first started Wendilla that somebody came on and made the comment that he/she couldn't understand why we would care at our ages. Oh boy did she get shot down in flames. We didn't hear from her again.
I'm 70 and don't mind the age because I feel that I know so much more than I did when I was younger.....of course that probably has more to do with the internet than the age but I just try and find something positive about it, like not having to worry about contraception lol.........................

Hi Wendilla, Weatherwise we were woken at 6am with a loud thunderstorm which lasted for an hour or so. It has been niceish but no swimming pool or cut offs as yet.
It's so much better than last year though when it rained everyday from Dec. to April. That bit about the rain in Spain is pure touritst propoganda !!
