Need one from GP for me to get private health. Visited GP. 3 weeks ago about my head and she said come back and see her2 to 3 months time. Is there any thing I can do if she refuses
I would contact your GP and say that you would like to seek private medical advice and need a letter of referral from her. They may ask for a fee. I had to pay £35 for my doctor to do a letter to help me get a blue badge.
No. You can get private treatment from a consultant or specialist without being referred by your GP.
But the British Medical Association (BMA) believes it's best practice for patients to be referred for specialist treatment by their GP because they know your medical history and can advise you if a referral is necessary.
Sounds like sound advice JJ - taken from Margo's link.
I have referred myself to private consultants on many occasions, with no problems. I have been asked by the consultants to provide zany scans or xrays etc they may need and our medical practice has provided me with them They can't refuse.
wait until she does
she wont ( see sqad)
AND
as others have said - refer yourself to the surgeon of choice and at the initial interview say she has failed to refer me.
You are previewing a problem ( failure to refer) that wont occur / doesnt occur
When I had a minor operation by private, the private care still wants a referral letter from the GP. I suspect the private is protecting themselves should anything goes wrong.
I suppose it depends in the private hospital you are using. I have always referred myself to Norwich Spire who can get all my details from Norfolk and Norwich Hospital or ask me to produce results from my GP. I am wondering who the company is JJ refers to. Perhaps an insurance company?
