I treated injuries like them quite often, I did'nt take those pics, nor was I involved in that incident, however judging by the loss of the victems fingers I would assume that he/she picked it up. Most bombs over there are acctually booby traps designed to make 'take out' the unwary. I saw how the IRA booby trapped a 50p piece once, it was desingned to be picked up and set off an explosion that would have collapsed the building we were in killing us all. I'm happy to say that no-one picked it up, and we recgnised it for what it was

This question reminds me of when a salty old sea-dog fisherman dredged up a bomb or shell or something in his nets, just off the coast where I used to live. It was exploded, eventually, out to sea but not so far that people couldn't see from the beach. Wow!! What a spectacle that was!
His status as local hero was guaranteed as of that moment, but he never failed to tell everyone how scared he was when he first saw it. I hope mandimoo has got hers taken care of.

hello everyone. i posted while i was at work and had some difficulty getting back on to check for replies. i had not panicked about this item as i have had it for several years. i bought it in a box of miscellaneous bits from an auction and it has recently moved house with me, although judging from some of your replies this has made me giggle a little nervously shall we say. still havent managed to get it identified as i have been away most of the weekend. i think im going to phone the police when i get home from work tomorrow. thanks everyone for your replies (and concern)! xx
