My son has come home from work complaining about a pain in his hand. It is a continuous ache but mostly affecting his little and ring finger. He is a machinery fitter and works with his hands all day. Any ideas what it could be or what he could do about it,

Buy some voltarol and rub it in the affected area , its the best ive ever used
He needs to speak with the HR department or the Health and Safety Officer. It does sound like RSI, but he won't get rid of it whilst whatever is causing it still exists. It may be something that needs adjusting on the machinery or it may be the way he is using it. The company has a duty to him to find out what the problem is and solve it (under employment law).

Tell his not to delay because if RSI remains untreated it may cause further problems to him.

Thank You all for your help. I will pass on the information to son and let him decide where to go from there. Many thanks.
Sound like the type of arthritis I have. Flares up every so often, usually after I have done something phsical ( e.g. gardening). Doctor prescribed a course of Diclofenac, which I take after a flare-up. Works for me.
