does anyone know where I can buy maple sugar, cream and butter from a uk mail order company? I know I can get it straight from Canada and the US but the p and p and customs make this very expensive.

happy birthday to your bro and Sis :)
the things I forget are the ones I've put down without even thinking about, so there's no way I'd write them down.
Hello. I've actually cooked a roast gammon lunch! Cant remember the last time I actually cooked on a Sunday! It's all cleared away and I evev cleaned the oven but the trays are huge about a metre long, so cant go in dishwasher so had to clean by hand. Wont do this too often !!!
I've been to a big travel trade show and I drank a glass of Ibiza white wine - very pleasant too. I also have a bangle from Senegal, a hand-knitted stress ball from Guatemala and some lip salve from Oregon, so my day has not been wasted. And a leaflet promoting a hookers' convention in Rijeka, which apparently is exactly what it sounds like and not a rugby get-together. Unfortunately I see I am am washing my hair that day so can't make it.
Evening each

Can I borrow your stress ball Jno ? We're surrounded by men with diggers and lorries ,road cones and portacabins in the park and much noise from pneumatic drills while they do the new pavements. The near neighbours and us are all pleased about it getting done but not the fact that it's going to take six weeks!
It's a very long road and at least they've started at our end of it but it's now a traffic nightmare.
Not much doing otherwise .Some fireworks the last few days but soon over. Hope you're all well.
Hello all. Are woofers ok woofy?
Very quiet here now the guirres have gone! It nice weather although gone a tad chilly, and horrendous winds which stopped today.
The next door house us being stripped and repainted so ny side yard is full if white paint chips, cant say much as it's a messy side yard anyway! I've dyed some pillowcases yellow to match an old sheet and look ok in bedroom now. Nothing much happening here, love the evenings when it gets dark and cosy! Yay it's my time!!!

hello all. Hopefully the fireworks are over except for the local community display which happens tomorrow. I know it seems to be my only topic of conversation at the mo but it kind of takes over my life. I feed the dogs and dose them at 4pm ish, then things kick off and I spend the evening keeping the dogs safe. After the noise finishes we unwind for around an hour then get to bed ready to do it all again the next day.
we have just had the plumber in to switch our hot water back on. We bled radiators eysterday, which removed all the pressure from the system, but didn't know how to fire it up again. (Just trun two taps for a minute.) Regrettably, we did all this last year with the same result, but forgot what to do abotu it.

Now have a man up a high ladder fixing the guttering outside the top flat which should stop water penetrating into ours two storeys below. He seems to have knocked the garden gate off its hinges getting the ladder through so I suppose that's our next challenge.

one damn thing after another isn't it Jno? I have got gutter trouble but my nice window cleaner man sorts it for me when he comes and once the leaves are down he does a good pressure wash. We had a blessed quiet night last night and I was planning to get caught up on getting the house back to looking not like a rubbish heap but my back has gone ping. the cure for me is to sit straight in a chair with the ping well supported for an hour or so. Pretty damn boring.
Well I actually got my sewing machine out today. Took me half an hour to thread the damn needle. Yes it has an automatic threaded but I cant work it!! Anyway finally managed to sew what I needed with slightly unmatching cotton but I thought if I stop and change reels it'll all begger up. Doesnt look too bad!!!
I do admire people who can sew.I'm too cack handed. I still have my mum's old singer machine which must be over a hundred years old as it was second hand when she got it.It's on a shelf above the coat cupboard in the hall and I get it down from time to time and polish it.It probably still works but I have no idea how to work it and if I did manage to thread it it would jam.I think I jammed every machine in the school needlework room at some stage. Reels of cotton shriek when I look at them !
Nothing much doing here.Rainy old day and no progress with the paths. The poor Tesco driver had to park across the other side of the park today and lug my order over on a wheelie thing.
Do any of you use whatsapp? I got talked into it by the Germans and I've become sort of addicted to it. I'll be joining Twitter soon ..haha
Hope you're all ok.

Yes I'm on whatsapp and twitter.
My dad was a master tailor and he would be shocked at my sewing.. in the 60s I made trouser suits and dresses all by hand. I know what I'm doing by hand. Machines seize up on me too and all the stitching goes loopy. Wish I had your mums old machine. Is it a hand one? I had one and then sold it for a super duper all bells and whistles unmanageable thing!! Ah well no one will look at my stitching hopefully!!
Lovely day here but chilly. Have started xmas shopping as it gets too.late and I have spent the money elsewhere!!
have you contacted your local Allsaints, shaney? They seem to want every old sewing machine in the land

I can't believe it, I have another sore tooth. No matter what the clock says it is always tooth hurtee here.

I only use whatsapp to talk to a couple of people, likewise Twitter. My Mum was a court dressmaker (have I said this before?) She worked at Lutyens in Baker street and was one of the girls who worked on dresses for Wallis Simpson. They all knew that the Prince of Wales and her were involved because he used to wait for her outside in his car... my mum always used to laugh when the historical version was that it was kept from the public because loads of people knew and talked to their families and friends about it. It might not have been common knowledge outside London but it was certainly no secret. When they were married, one of the daily papers printed an article with photos of her trousseau and Mum kept a copy with samples of some of the fabrics pinned to it. When she signed up and went into the Army, her Mum who was my Nan and was a devil for spring cleaning, threw it out!

ouch Jno but hahahaha
Woofy, that's such a shame .It would have been a lovely keepsake or of interest to a museum of clothing or somewhere like the V&A.
Blimey Jno that's a lot of sewing machines.Someone is a very dedicated collector. It's a hand machine Neti and was at one time set into a treadle but what happened to said treadle is a mystery but I would never part with it as it conjures up memories of my Mum making most of my clothes on it and doing repairs, making curtains and loose covers, turning collars and sheets sides to middle etc.
Tooth hurtees must go to the dentist. There's a joke about that but I can't remember how it goes.
Not a bad day here but very chilly.0°C tonight Brrrr. Night all.
My dad always used a singer treacle machine and used one of mums old stockings as a fan belt when needed. I cannot cope with treadles as my hand and feet are all out of sync and it's dangerous!
It was very cold last night so had to put a thicker duvet on bed. These duvet covers I have bought from.ebay ate so big, I think they are Super Ling so may have to but a huge duvet! I will get round to measuring them! And they buy one on mainland in January if we go
It's all much cheaper on the mainland. Big national elections here tomorrow. We dont get the vote even after 48 years here and we dont get the vote in UK
I really think we should have a say in one country or the other !!!
Bluddy phone! Treadle not treacle!!
Mr N is cooking sobrasada on tomato toast and pimentos de padron and there is a smokey fog in the kitchen, cant see anything!!! Reminiscent of smog!!
sounds lilke a right microclimate in the kitchen, naeti.

It's been like the Somme here all evening, in between the showers, thunderous barrages of fireworks - and there's going to be more at Wembley tomorrow. I bravely drove down there tonight to get a new heater and avoid the crowds, but England women were playing Germany and Christina Aguilera was performing, so there was still any amount of traffic.
