does anyone know where I can buy maple sugar, cream and butter from a uk mail order company? I know I can get it straight from Canada and the US but the p and p and customs make this very expensive.

waves through letterbox in direction of Ibiza

went to a clinic for a hearing test, because the pills I'm taking for cramps are damaging my ears. I think I did alright with the beep tests, but then she played a dozen or so spoken sentences for me to repeat and I got one half-right and the rest total failure. Either they spoke in unclear voices or they were against a background of other voices. Very depressing, but of course I knew it already. They're going to sort out a hearing aid, but the ones I've had in the past just magnify all the hisses and hums in my ears.

I should have asked how many people had handled the beep button before and had it been disinfected :-(
Question Author
Robi you would need the kind of bidet that has a blow dryer!
Question Author
Jno that's a shame about your hearing, I hope the outcome is better than you think.
A bidet is part and parcel of life here. Couldnt be without one!
Alas sisters ship has been hit by the dreaded corovirus
Well 3 people have been taken off and ship wasnt allowed at Grand Cayman and then then had to turn back from American shores when the 3rd person, a passenger was taken ill
Shenis still hopefully that she will dock.on Wednesday and be able to fly home. One wonders? Says the wine and drinks are very expensive but I told her she can afford it so enjoy herself!
Sorry to hear that Jno.
My brother is totally deaf in both ears and has digital hearing aids and gets along really well with them. They're very high tech now.He gets them on the NHS and says they are very good with excellent aftercare.I think Specsavers fit NHS ones too.Might be worth looking into. He's also got a hearing loop system at home.I hope you can get sorted.
Hope your sister gets home safely Neti.
Wet and windy out there atm otherwise nothing doing here.

my goodness that would look nice on my ikea dressing table.
Morning all....wild wet and windy since yesterday afternoon. Hope it clears later as forecast.
Oh heck, that dressing table set puts my eclectic clutter to shame.

Hope you get sorted jno. One of my friends has a hearing aid but she's always having it tweaked for one reason or another. I'm the opposite, I can hear things that only dogs and bats can.

It's ok woofy I've got a fan heater on the bathroom wall (back up for a piddly radiator). I knew this excercise would be useful one day

I just had a proper spit coffee at the screen moment Robi
Hello well the good news is that sister's ship has clearance to dock tomorrow so hopefully she will be able to fly home tomorrow
My nephew wears hearing aids he only 56 but this is down to his nose cancer. Trouble is he cant hear me on the telephone
Sister can but he cant!
Sorry cant enthuse over that toilet stuff!
your nephew wears hearing aids because of nose cancer ... I wear hearing aids because of leg cramps ... what a complicated world.

"Does your nose run? Do your feet smell? Maybe you're built upside down."
He's half Chinese and only Chinese people get this cancer.
Oh dear now the oap Spanish tourists who come here cheaply have been stopped from entering the island!
Morning folks, very breezy but clear blue skies. It dried the washing super fast yesterday....eventually...after I'd stapled it to the washing line. Tut. If any of you has an unusual bird flapping in their tree this morning it's probably my lesser spotted animal print bra.
There were as many loo rolls as you wanted in Iceland but not so Kipling cakes. We have our priorities round here.
Question Author
we are all good. The next lot of dogfood has shipped, there its tortoise food in the fridge and more coming. Humans? Pffft!
we're okay on the loo roll front, though supermarket stocks are variable, but sanitiser is like gold dust. OH bought a very small bottle for £8.99 that probably came from a pound store originally.

Glorious sunshine and grey showers alternating here every five minutes or so.
You mean to say I've wasted ages peering at a tree with my binoculars and consulting my bird book only to find this bird is a bra :)
Very bright breezy here too but at least it's dry.The wind is cold though.
There don't appear to be any shortages here as yet.I always make sure I have plenty of essential stuff at all times anyway and especially now when I don't get about too well.I've probably inherited my mother's habits. I think people of her generation were worried that there could be another war and stocked up accordingly. We still laugh at the amount of Robin Starch and blue bags she had stashed away when we had to clear her home after she died.
hahaha... I do apologise shaney, I'll try to keep my smalls under control in future.

Oh yes, same with our mum, the starch, blue bags and a drawer full of old vests/pjs for dusters. She always had a cupboard full of tins including of ham, sliced peaches and evap. Don't forget the slippers and wincy nightgowns :)
Well biddies this little island is on lockdown now
Schools closed
All theatres cinema libraries closed. Clinics and hospital closed. I have an appointment for Tuesday for which I have waited 13 months. Probably no buses anyway
My store cupboard is almost depleted as Mr N doesnt like hoarding
Hope we cam buy.lots this weekend. I guess food will be flown in although all unnecessary flights and ferries are banned. So no tourists . Mr Ns home grown tomatoes will be ready in about August!!!
I need a red cross parcel although I doubt the Post office will even open!!

Luckily sister's cruise was ok and they were rushed through as the dock was also closed due to the workers being ill. she arrived back at Heathrow at 7am today
All other cruises cancelled!
oh dear, I hope you sanitise yourself after reading my posts.
