does anyone know where I can buy maple sugar, cream and butter from a uk mail order company? I know I can get it straight from Canada and the US but the p and p and customs make this very expensive.

somebody's just been arrested for failing to self isolate on the Isle of Man, who clearly take a harder line than the Spanish. But I see Spain has now had 1000 deaths, so gold star to them.

Apparently half the cases in Uruguay have been traced to a fashion designer who went to a wedding after flying in from Spain, and infected 44 people. Gold star for her too.

These sort of people are very selfish.
Jno I know you've had difficulty getting hand sanitizer. My whatsappers tell me that 4711 eau de cologne is selling like hot cakes. It has a very high alcohol content apparently. On Amazon for 15 odd quid for 30ml.
You could decant some into a small spray bottle and keep it in your bag if you have to go out.Better than nothing.
It's something I always have in the house anyway.Shades of my MiL.
Hope you're all ok today.x
I've got a little tube labelled Florida; I think I must havepicked it up at soem sort of promotion. But it's running low.

We've just had a phone call from our neighbours, an Irish guy asking if we needed anything and leaving his phone number. I thought that was very kind - I don't think either of us has even met him, though we've occasionally taken in parcels for them and passed on local police warnings and so forth.

Not a peep out of the people upstairs though. They've probably returned to their own litle villages, the ones where they learnt it's safe to leave your front door open all night and the light in the entrance on. Bunch of dingbats.
Spain is very tough on people roaming. 9 fines yesterday 6 for two in a car and 2 for being on the streets without just cause! And I waited til 20.35 ( 5 mins past the allotted hour) to put out the rubbish else it's a €1000 fine. Guardia are offering to help old people with shopping. United we stand!
I am having a very exciting time. OH called an ambulance out for me a 4.30am . I have been having atrial fib attacks lately despite taking my meds for it and last night I thought ì was a gonna. I'm still here at home, reassured after numerous tests that they are being triggered by panic. Brilliant paramedic and handsome with it! Feeling reassured.
Question Author
I am glad you are reassured and that you hit the paramedic jackpot but don't do it too often will you?
No. I literally thought I was about to die. I am used to my AFib and can control it, but this was out of control. I was told by them never to worry about calling 999 because it could have been a much more serious scenario.
glad to hear it, Apc, very scary.
it was jno. The last time I didn't call an ambulance. the doctor who visited me after I fainted with it told me off and asked why I didn't call an ambulance? Its a very frightening condition.

sis is travelling a day early and will be here tomorrow....it seems that after the pub club closure, the next step has been the no more than one in a car thing and as she wasn't keen on the boot idea, I might have pressured her into changing her travel day. I told her if I am wrong she can remind me of it forever...and she will!
My brother has atrial fibrillation and has been taken to hospital several times .It is scary but touch wood he's been on an even keel for a good while now since they changed his medication. It's a bit worrying though as he's now alone and although he's a very stoical person the current stressful climate isn't good for anyone with heart problems.
Hope you soon feel better.
Hope your sister arrives safely Woofy.I expect you'll be glad to see her.

Question Author
I will be very glad. She lives alone too and her neighbours are nice but like me, no one to offer care if she gets ill, also I am already registered for online grocery shopping and sainsburys who are her best option, are not accepting new sign ups...also her nearest shops are big city. We have got a bit of space and rurality here so she can get out to stretch her legs. My other sis (middle one) has got her son and his partner nearby and also she drives which big sis does not. I was worried they would do the only one person to a car thing so when the dep chief medical person talked in passing today about not sharing cars, I decided to get her to move her taxi from sunday to tomorrow. If there is a saturday briefing, she will be either here or in transit when it happens so anything they announce won't affect her fingers crossed..
To be honest Shaney I really didn't want to go to hospital again with it. fortunately I didn't need to. I've had my share of hospital over the last 2/3 years. Countless Rheumy appointments, dental surgery a new shoulder, 2 hernia ops. Now they want me to have a knee op. No way!
I'm totally worn out and a nervous wreck. I think corona is the last straw. But at least self isolation won't be new to me!

I have a precious bottle of 4711 Wunder Wasser Eau de Cologne which I love, first discovered it in Cologne about 4 years go. No way am rubbing it my hands. My dear son tells me paint stripper would work!
Glad your sister is joining you Woofy. To have company is so much better in this situation. My on line delivery is coming tomorrow. Still no pasta, let alone my gluten free pasta. Morrisons are not letting anybody buy more than 3 of any products. 3 carrots won't last long!

As for one per car - that is so stupid. You can't even share if you are a couple living in the same household. I speak most days to my friend in Spain and the police there are being really vigilant and aggressive with road blocks throughout her town, stopping cars and asking where people are going and wanting to see proof of identity and beritten proof of medical appointments
Written proof of medical appointments,etc.
evening all....these are very strange times, you can feel tension in the air, awful.

Pleased you were attended to quickly Apc, but as woofy said, please don't make a habit of it, it's not an ideal way to see a hunk in a uniform :)

This afternoon I nipped out to close the gate left open by the postperson just a a huge motorbike ridden by a tall young man all in black leather was pulling up.
He took a bag from the carrier and waved a bottle of armagnac at me..yes, it was Tarquin. He wouldn't come in even though I was ok with it so if anyone was watching they probably thought Omg, that woman's had a bottle of brandy couriered to her..... she must be worse than we thought. I do love it if people gossip about me, better than being invisible, hahaha.

Cheers tout le monde.
I suppose if you'e at home you can stay in diffeerent rooms, if you're in a car you're going to be well within 6 feet of each other.

I'm sorry I sold the stretch limo now, but as I'm no longer able to stage wrestling matches in the back ...
Haha Robinia, they'll think you've won the lottery.Go easy on it though, we don't want any skew whiff tiaras or chucking your slippers in the air.

I love 4711 .It was my Mum in laws cure all.Bites, stings ,grazes headaches, slosh it on.When we got married we lived in Cologne and we went to the house of fragrance in the Glockengasse.I still have the small bottle of 4711 Tosca I bought there.
I'm glad we've always supported our local baker and butcher.Had an email from the butcher to say he'll deliver and just mail or ring and he'll do his best to supply our needs which is nice. Mr S went at the crack of dawn to the baker for a loaf and he said the manageress was having no nonsense from the queue ,it was regulars first and she knows who they are.
Nobody would dare argue with her either ,she's a very tall, well built woman :)
Sleep well folks .

Jno but if neither of you hsve the virus and have been self isolating for a couple of weeks you won't be keeping 2 metres apart surely?
Question Author
APc, I think the idea is to make it easier to monitor. Its easy to see if there is only one person in a car or more and if the requirement is only one then there will be less cars to stop and check.
