one vegetarian coming to my dinner party - what shall I cook?
106 Answers
I'm trying to think of something that I can easily do a meat and non-meat version of as I personally don't think its a proper meal if it doesn't have meat in it so don't want to cook an all-veggie meal but don't want to do something totally different for the veggie - any ideas please? Thanks

We have NO fishmongers in Northampton anymore. The only place we can get our fish is in the supermarket. That's a real shame. I like it all though...well so far. Wouldn't eat one of those deadly Japanese ones?
I'm not a massive fan of meat. Duck is my favourite...I find that to have a different texture though.

bushbaby_de........ethandron along with viv ( my wife) and me are, I think, quite accustomed to folks getting confused with our names. I know I've been called allsorts.:-)
I know the Ed doesn't like digressions from the thread and often removes them. However I am chancing my arm on this one and saying 'Hope you are well eth along ron.'
Sorry,if I am being a bit pushy....but I do like Curry and suggest again that,as you also like the dish, it could be the answer to your problem.
Ron.

Ron - I hope Ed doesn't kill my thread as its my longest yet! I feel like I'm hosting chatterbank!
I am liking the curry suggestion lots and have a recipe I can probably tweak to suit. I might try that indian cheese in it as well. Its a good excuse for poppadoms and naans too :) But I WILL be saving the other suggestions so I don't have to ask again in the future!!

I am now off to bed. but, before turning-in, I must mention Quorn as a meat substitute.
You can buy it in most Supermarkets and it is manufactured from a fungi which is similar to mushroom. It comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes and is cooked as if it were meat. The following link could be worth a peep;-

Hi Bushbaby, as Welshlibranr says, you can try stuffing peppers or tomatoes. My mum makes dolmades which are stuffed vine leaves but she also uses peppers. The filling is mainly rice with onions, herbs and a few spices. Demonstration on YT link:-
