Hmm not great at the technology side of things Ratter!

The flowers at the end are a triangle shaped cluster of tiny white flowers.
This site might help if you can't provide a picture http://www.botanicalkeys.co.uk/flora/index.html
Are we talking a plant or a shrub?

9ft high is tall for a plant
Do you mean the flowers come out directly from the end of a leaf, must be something unusual?
Not an awful lot to go on shivvy,

What shape are the leaves are they fleshy or thin ?
Question Author
Is anything that grows not called a plant?!

If a plant is shorter than 2-3m then I reckon it is a shrub. To be honest I've never really thought about the terminology before.

Not much good at the technology or the gardening!
Question Author
The leaves are very thin and are nearly heart shaped.
Each of the tiny flowers that make up the clusters have 4 little leaves.
shivvy can you confirm to give us more help, as I said,if you picked off a leaf are the flowers coming straight out of the leaf itself?
I think a shrub is defined as a tree with multiple trunks, with woody growth. Loosely speaking.

Sorry Tilly and Prudie - I didn't see your answers earlier.

No tilly that isn't it :o(

Im trying to get a pic up via photobucket in a wee while.

I think it is a really common 'plant'.
White lilac?
From translating shivvy's description I think you could well be right Robinia. I've got thrown by the flowers at the end of leaves thing.
White Lilac seems good, Robinia. It's a shame that shivvy didn't mention the fragrance......:-)
Question Author
Yippee! White lilac it is! Thanks so much to everyone for your patience with my lack of picture and poor descriptive skills and special thanks to Robinia.
Question Author
I didn't honestly notice a fragrance Tilly.
:)
BA to Robinia........and thank goodness it wasn't a Robinia......

My white lilac fragrance nearly knocks me off my feet. It's wonderful.
I have a Robinia in my garden.
