If vehicle is parked on private property without permission then I imagine landowners can do so !
They only have to report it as abandoned and the police should deal with it.
That's what I meant ummmm..! X can't have old rust buckets abandoned here there and everywhere !
Then they registered owner will get the towing bill and storage charges...
Result !
wouldn't the landowner be entitled to tow the vehicles off his land whether they were taxed or not?
Yes....I assume so but why should they have to?
Contact the police but if they are like our lot they will not be interested.
Check to see if the cars are SORN

How do I check if they are on SORN ?
The police will not be interested in this (in fact they are not interested in untaxed vehicles on a public road - that is a matter for the DVLA). It is essentially a civil matter. It does not matter whether the vehicle is taxed or not. The landowner should write to the registered keeper of the vehicle (details available from the DVLA) informing him that he will have the car removed within seven days.
I've seen police put a notice on a untaxed car and be present when it was towed a week or so later.
-- answer removed --
Where I live they will only get involved where it is parked so as to cause an obstruction. In any case that is immaterial here as the vehicle is on private land and the matter of whether it is taxed or not is not relevant.
When vehicle tax discs are scrapped in October, how will anyone know whether a car is taxed or not?

Alright, I know the police can check, but that doesn't help the man, or woman, in the street!
They should report it abandoned...
wiltsman read Ummmm's advice posted at 08.02.
The same site tell you if a car is taxed or not.
bob561941 I would just put a notice on the car/cars saying' this vehicle will be removed and sold for scrap 7 days from date this notice unless it is removed by the owner.
A friend of mine who owned a pub with a car park used to get this problem, he and his mates used to just 'bump' the cars out onto the street and leave them then phone the council to report them as abandoned.
