I'm a Swede living in Sweden but we do get to see a lot of your British drama series and shows, Parkinson being one of the popular ones over here as well. I was just wondering, how is he and has he been up to anything interesting after the final Parkinson show?

Quite chilly here today to change the gas bottle and lug it up from the shed on our land, and once at top of steps I place into a towel and drag the offending article to the front door, wears me out. Mr N is never around when one needs him! I'll have arm muscles the size of Rocky's at this rate!!!
*laughing at Shaney's kettle cartoon* Evening all, laptop feeling much better today.Took me ten minutes yesterday to log into my Yahoo and ten more to log out and I couldn't access AB at all. Don't know what the problem was, just that it wasn't the connection. Thanks Jude for taking my message - I thought I would be gone for weeks.
Thanks also to Robi for my lovely whatever-it-is, I'm afraid to ask how it's worn ha ha, looks S&M =:0 If the penny drops (on how to wear it) I think I'll combine it with this (kinky?) bracelet which I find truly beautiful http://www.flickr.com...et-72157605418276622/ I'm not sure what tatting is or if it's difficult but looking at her stuff (check the whole set out) I want to do that too. Right now my Candle Flame Shawl is well underway and it's hysterically fun knitting and not difficult at all even though I've never done anything like it:)
Welcome back jno, did they have the Maille Dijon Originale on that menu, it's my favourite. And welcome back Lottie, do stop grovelling and sell us your soul instead;-) I tried to escape once but if memory serves I was told this place is like the Hotel California...
This is the worst winter of my life and it's not over yet. Still, there are countrymen worse off than me, falling flat on their back AND having an elk stare at them http://www.thelocal.se/25592/20100318/

....and I found two Easter Eggs in a local Bar for 3.50€ each so bought them, creme egg and flake, yum, had ordered one from English shop for 10€ so will cancel that! Mist has gone now. Had a drive to next village (Es Cana) playing the Stylistics on mp3 and honestly felt so young again it was a shock to see my mother's face in the rear view mirror - it was really me! Where has my lovely long blonde hair gone, oh that's right, my daughter has it now. I am looking awful at the moment, hairs needs "Harry Pottering" but can't afford it at present!
Hair, don't get me started on hair... I look like a bag lady with something that used to be a mullet six months ago =:O (no it never *was* a mullet, it just grows faster at the back) and I've been waiting for the ICE to go away before I take that walk to my hairdresser. Can't believe the temperatures you lot are reporting, this year there really is a huge difference between us, as opposed to in previous years when we've been comparing weather. We're still subzero most days and my hair is just getting longer.

Aaaaaaargh....! I could have been a millionaire...! I've just discovered the HBO series True Blood, it's about vampires and how they have become part of society as there now is a synthetic, bottled option called Tru Blood and they don't (necessarily) have to attack anymore - well I HAD THAT IDEA BACK IN 2006! ...and I've been planning to do something about it! Too late now... My idea was for a children's book but if I did it now nobody would believe I wasn't plagiarising. AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGHHHHHHH!!!!
Vampire Eric is a Swede, he lives nearby, I see him on the street now and then (and he really is pale, ha ha) and the singer/songwriter is Swedish too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_YG5QBY9NQ

It's not that warm Kit .It was lovely here first thing but it's turned cold now and we've put the heating back on .Plus that chilly east wind all the time .
Would you believe some person lit a ruddy bonfire here two doors down at midday today .Great clouds of stinking smoke and I had to skip out and get my washing in which I hadn't long pegged out . .Grrrrrrr.
I like those crocheted things on that link .It looks similar to something we did years ago ,crocheting round curtain rings and then joining them together to make decorative items , which were probably neither use nor ornament :)
Has Robinia left the handbag department yet or do we have to put out an all points alert ?

Appararently it's some technique called 'tatting' (see title of the photo set). I looked it up and I did recognise the Swedish word but have never really bothered to find out what it is. There are clips on YouTube of course and a Wiki article. I think that woman on Flickr has been reading our threads and now she's plotting to make willy warmers for Vinny (and four of his mates) http://www.flickr.com...set-72157605418276622 >>>>>>>
...and did you see those, Shaney, I'd kill for those http://www.flickr.com...et-72157605418276622/

Ah yes it's tatting of course ,not crocheting , with a shuttle .I've got a tatting shuttle somewhere .Only a plastic one and I'm sure I've got a little book about it too. One of those things which I think I got from Ebay at some stage ,deluding myself that I could master it .Too fumbly fingered for me now .
I have a job to peel tatties let alone tatting .
I had to sew a button on something this morning ,that was another fumbling fiddling job . I'm still ploughing through that jumper I'm knitting .I only need to do the neck shaping but my hands are so painful at times I can't be bothered :) .
If you want the booklet and shuttle I'll find them up for you.

Needle or shuttle, Woofy?
Shaney that's so kind of you. The items on Flickr are needle (according to the tags) and if I'm honest I don't think neither needle nor shuttle tatting would ever beat knitting for me, but yes sure if you're absolutely certain you're never gonna ever pick it up again...? ...it would be interesting to get some kind of feel for what it's all about. If you're SURE. And the booklet had better be good ha ha cos I just saw a frustrated woman comment on a YouTube clip asking what in the world she's doing wrong and signing herself as The Mad Tatter ha ha ha ha ha!

You watch yours too:) Oh and we'll have none of that Google Street View nonsense just because you have my address now! Don't think you can find my window! I can see you you know! http://i39.tinypic.com/el61cp.jpg
oy yoy yoy, another hour's hammering and sawing at a root canal - totally painfree as half my face was anaesthetised, but as I expected it's been hell since it wore off. Plus I've got to go back at least twice more and get a new crown. <moan>

I don't seem to have taken any photos of people, but I sure missed some. We went out for a stroll in the evening but left the camera behind as it was dark. Only it turned out there was a Venetian Ball on, and we saw several people going from hotel to ballroom dolled up to the nines in 18th-century get up with big masks, velvet suits, three-foot-high wigs and so on. And me with no camera! That'll learn me.

Hi all Just got in from a trip to my local haunt. Saw a brilliant entertainer called Scott Anson. Here's is Web site.

Lovely photos Jno. All that lovely sunshine.
Talking about tatting my sister has taught herself to tat and she had done some lovely things. I could never master it I'm too ham-fisted but I can knit ok.
Anyway I'm off to bed now hoping I sleep better than I did last night. I'm now a member of the 3.46 club on BBC 2. Hadn't heard of it until that time this morning. Apparently anybody who is awake at that time can send a text to the programme to tell what they are doing and why they are still awake. I didn't send on I hastily add. Just had a laugh at some that were read out.
Goodnight all sleep tight see yer later 'gater(s)
