France's burka ban

Well done the French for having the guts to introduce the 'burka ban', but it seems with a little trepidation.
/// Earlier, French police said they will be enforcing the country’s new burka ban "extremely cautiously" because of fears of provoking violence. ///
Belgium introduced a full ban last year, and a ban also looks likely in Holland, Spain and Switzerland.
Could Britain ever have the guts to do likewise?

/// which will then only create further alienation. It just seems remarkably counter productive to me! ///
/// Shows of defiance from Burka wearing Muslim women.///
Who cares?
The Burka now, what else will they demand, should we weakly give in to each and every demand they make in case it creates further alienation?

/// I don't like it so it must be banned - is both selfish and represssive. With views like that you should be running a middle eastern dictatorship rather than benefitting from the freedom of living in a democratic country. ///
Is this any different to saying you must agree with us when we say there is nothing wrong with wearing the Burka?
Everyone should have a choice of what they find offensive, not just certain groups, including the 'Left'
It is also interesting that the 'Left' use their often used tactic of insulting anything or anybody who don't toe their 'Party' line.
For instance in this case, they chose to insult the French along with their President, (President Sarcastic) as one described him, along with everyone else that disagrees with them.
What insults will they find to throw at Holland, Spain and Switzerland. if they also impose the ban?

AOG is stuck firmly in the past and a good argument would probably kill him off!!! He justs likes to start these threads and then see what happens while sat on the sidelines.
Most Muslim women that wear the Burka or Niqab do so out of choice, not because they are forced to, you see just as many if not more Muslims not wearing them. You just dont realise they are Muslim because they are not dressed as the western world perceives them to dress.
Placing a ban is not the way to get people to integrate into our society, learning about both sides of the argument from both sides and listening to each other would be much more benificial.
There is a small minority of fanatics that will always spoil things, but you will find these on both sides of the fence. Especially with a SH*T stirrer like AOG

That is exactly what the French did.........................then banned the burka by democratic parliamentary vote.
>>>> Especially with a SH*T stirrer like AOG>>>> totally unnecessary in my opinion to make such a comment.

Zeuhl: People should be able to wear what they like
But that doesn't extend to concealing one's face - other than for H&S/medical reasons.
That is the domain of masked robbers and highwaymen ; it alienates people from each other and erodes the openness of our society. Imagine your local High Street if everyone concealed their face behind a mask - would you feel more or less comfortable?
Can't say any more. Just totally agree with Zeuhl.
