Should we be like any other country and that is proud of our heritage and our culture?

Surely we should be able to discuss this without any accusations of racism being banded about, I ask this because there was such a debate on this academic study on a radio phone-in last night.

Although a caller gave an educated argument showing concern at the fact that Briton will in the future cease to be a white nation, he was named called by the presenter, and then when he was off the air the bias presenter allowed mainly black persons on to welcome and rejoice the fact.

Why is it white persons are openly accused of 'speaking a load of rubbish', called idiots, racists etc, etc. by these left-wing presenters, yet when a black person phones in they are praised, never called names, and finally thanked for phoning the show with their valuable input?

The only difference is - you appear to live with fear and dread, and I do not, and since neither of us can change what will be - I prefer my lifestyle to yours, thanks.

"Oh, by the way - it's not racist to show concern over the erosion of heritage, but it certainly IS racist when that concern focusses on skin colour. "

Absolutely sp1814 - a hole in one! A concentration upon appearance stereotypes is so ludicrous - as ridiculous as the demonising of obesity, ginger hair, very tall/short people. Where to next? Spectacles; beards; visible disability; baldness? Let's all work to stamp out racism, 'lookism' and indeed fascism in all it's forms!

Blue Mink got it right over 40 years ago.

Showing concern over a fact cannot be racist - how that concern manifests itself may be -

I am concerned that my white British heritage may be diluted to a point where it no longer exists - not racist.

I am concerned that my white British heritage may be diluted to a point where it no longer exists, because of an influx of inferior races - racist.

As to your observations about your perceived bias of 'those left-wing presenters' - that's an issue best taken up with the radio station in question - no-one on here who did not hear what was said is in a position to make a valid comment.

As I have opined before, I express no 'pride' about my country and culture - i am here by a fortunate quirk of fate, not because I 'earned a right' to be here - which is what makes the philosophy of the EDL and others like them so repugnant in its arrogance and undeserved superiority.

Do i appreciate my culture and country? Yes, absolutely, but I do not presume ownership of it, or any right to precent others from introducing their cultures alongside it, which is what made our culture what it is today.

/// I think it's badly informed, and often manifests in rather bigoted ways - but I don't think that being a critic of immigration at all means that someone is a racist. ///

/// And incidentally, neither does being pro-immigration mean you are anti-UK or want to see British society destroyed or any other such sensational
nonsense. ///

So we should be at least grateful that it is not racist, only badly informed which often manifests in rather bigoted ways???????????????

Seems that some are right all the time, but others although they are not racist, have still to accept that they are badly informed, bigoted and tend to issue out sensational nonsense.

Yet others are not to be opposed for their views at all.

Well that all seems a rather one sided unbalanced and undemocratic viewpoint.

As I have said before it is not a matter of skin colour but of culture and traditions etc.

Check out the drummer in the Blue Mink clip - wow what a trend-setting groover he is, real cutting-edge image there!!
it is not a matter of skin colour but of culture and traditions etc.

If that was what the Express meant, it would not have used the phraise "white Britons". (And, perhaps, you would not have started a thread about it.)

They don't seem in the least concerned by the number of Australians changing our culture with their cute little upward inflections at the end of a sentence.

jno .."with their cute little upward inflections at the end of a sentence."

When Australians do it, it is indeed cute, but when British university students do it - usually while saying annoying things like "Yeah, no, I'm at uni?" - it is stratospherically irritating!!!!
I agree?
Thanks - knew you would? I'm just off to the Union bar?
It's terrible isn't it. Foreign cultures, heritage and traditions, taking over a whole country. I blame the Normans !

aog, what heritage and culture is uniquely British , do you think?
Strange that the cultures and traditions that most seem to obsess you most just happen to be non-white

"As I have said before it is not a matter of skin colour but of culture and traditions etc."

Yet another use of the ubiquitous 'I'm not a racist but ...'. If that's the case, how come the original question used the words 'black' and 'white' five times in total? The euphemistic use of all-embracing 'culture' merely masks embedded colour-based bigotry. And the entire premiss of the original Express article was the forecast erosion of 'white' dominance.

/As I have said before it is not a matter of skin colour but of culture and traditions etc. /

aog You lie!

from your own OP

/showing concern at the fact that Briton will in the future cease to be a white nation/

I really can't decide whether you are stupid or you just think the rest of us are
Careful, Zeuhl. Aog may say that he didn't use those words about Britain ceasing to be a white nation. He was merely giving what a caller said.Of course, he did call that 'an educated argument', write of that caller being name-called, and of a biased presenter allowing mainly black persons to rejoice in the fact. He may have been complaining only about a lack of balance in the programme. How can tell what aog's opinion is? He may be quite happy with the predicted outcome.
"And I welcome a greater mix of colours to the UK. We should have a rainbow of colours and backgounds - like Brazil. "

why ? whats so good about it, whats the benefit ?

AOG, no it is not racist to express concern. Not sure about the 'white' bit though the problem is other cultures regardes of colour.

Still, you seem to have upset the usual right-on pinko's on here. No doubt the name calling will start soon.
Baz, high rates of crime if Brazil is anything to go by !
It's started already, as soon as you used the word "pinko's" -- that's name-calling after all...

It's natural to fear change, and sometimes sensible. In this case I'm mainly wondering what precisely we should be concerned about. Britain no longer being mainly white doesn't seem to me to be anything to be concerned about in and of itself. So what about it do you, baz and AOG fear?

If Brazil has high rates of crime, is that really linked to their cultural and racial diversity? I doubt you could prove that either way.
aog, ymb and baz

which of you is planning to still be here in 2066?

the changes in British culture will be evolutionary as they always have been.

concepts of what it is to be British in 2066 will naturally be different to ours just as ours are different to those of our ancestors

even thinking you could somehow 'preserve' them as they are now is in itself peculiar and foolish
