Apparently the reason that he didn't turn up in Port Talbot was :::::

" It took me six hours and 15 minutes to get here - it should have taken three-and-a-half to four. That is nothing to do with professionalism, what it does have to do with is a population that is going through the roof chiefly because of open-door immigration and the fact that the M4 is not as navigable as it used to be."

What on earth has immigration to do with the M4 being busy ? Wouldn't that be the same for every road in Britain ? The M4 into South Wales was designed in the 1960's and there have been many calls for it to upgraded. Its always even busier on a Friday afternoon.

So we are all now expected to believe that traffic jams are caused by immigrants ? Really ?

There are some people on here that will no doubt say... "there he goes again, having a go at UKIP" but with own goals like this, is it any wonder that Farage and Co are so ridiculed ?

By the way, has complete insanity broken out in South Wales in the last few days ? Apparently 100 UKIP supporters paid £25 each to see this man. I am in Cornwall at present and I have phoned home but all the relatives that I have spoken to still appear to have complete control of their senses.

Mind you, I don't live in Port Talbot ...bit too posh for me !

Forgot to ask, why are you ignoring all the links I've provided that concur with Farage's assertion and the Labour MPs who have pretty much endorsed those views on immigration, including the much respected Frank Field?

Not any more it isn't ! Most of the industry there has closed down, and moved away, taking all the jobs with them. But my comment was meant somewhat tongue in cheek, as locals would have realised !
I've learned, mikey, over these many years that if you're being humourous on Answerbank and your post isn't in Jokes, it's best to put a smiley at the end.

In some cases, neon signs, marching bands with banners and TV ads are recommended too.

:-)

See what I did there?
I remember being stuck in a traffic jam with my dad when I was about 17. He was getting increasingly annoyed.

"This country is overcrowded," he grumbled.

"What do you mean?"

"Look at this!"

A lot of people find this kind of rubbish really convincing. They find it more convincing and authentic than actual data from peer-reviewed research, which almost always gets written off with "you can say anything with statistics."
there you go again, having a go at UKIP! - sorry mikey couldn't resist! It's a *** up but really it is considerably less harmful than missing out large chunks of your conference speech, especially the bits giving the Tories a kicking!
Still trying to work out the 'again' bit.
Unless of course you mean this:

..in which case go to the Comments section and click on Highest Rated. His 'putting his foot in it' appears to have more than resonated with the general public, but then he does appear to be doing an awful lot of that of late.

Part one, absolutely correct, you do little else.
Part two, only by you, everyone else is reading the writing on the wall.

Apparently 100 UKIP supporters paid £25 each to see this man.
-------------------
Cheap as chips in comparison to Tony 'man of the people' Blair, who charges £200 for a photgraph(according to HIGNFY).
/So we are all now expected to believe that traffic jams are caused by immigrants ?/

But of course! It's all those horse-drawn caravans of European travellers heading for the Green Valleys of Wales, dontcha know? Bound to slow things down a bit.

Thanks Douglas...you are right of course ! But I didn't think anybody would pick up on my "little Joke" . The locals would have immediately though !

Chilli...the again bit ? Well, every time this man opens his mouth, he tends to jump in with both feet. He has done quite well this week, even for him. Suggesting that women who want to breastfeed should "go and sit in a corner" and now this...blaming his over-long journey on immigrants ! He was caught in heavy Friday afternoon/night traffic...so what...it happens to me and 10,0000's of others every Friday ?

By no means are "everybody else" reading the writing on the wall. UKIP are still on 17% in the latest Polls, which is about half of what labour and the Tories are achieving, so apparently not everybody else agrees with them at all.

Kromo has it right here. If UKIP supporters, on here, and in the country as a whole really think that traffic jams are caused by immigrants, than so be it.
It just shows how undiscerning, gullible and credulous they are.

I wonder if did those 100 people got their money back...its not as if Farage can't afford to refund them is it ?

Blackadder...lol at 17:47 !
And it was immigrants who built the *** motorways in the first place!

Well...they were Irish, some of them from Ulster delboy !

Oh, I take it you mean this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-30224637

So Farage was right then, the open-door immigration policy IS having a dramatic effect in terms of an ever increasing population, yes?
Question Author
Chili....I have read your link and I can find no mention anywhere that Farage's congestion on the M4 on a Friday was caused by immigration. But this is what he said !

So, sticking to the issue in my thread, and not wandering off again on tangents, do YOU think he was late due to immigrants ?
He didn't blame immigrants for being late, he blamed them or rather the open-door policy that has led to population overload, which as the figures show is increasing month on month, year on year.
But don't let the facts get in the way of your spin, just like you won't take heed of the comments on the breastfeeding issue.
Yet another ignoring the electorate. Where have I heard that recently?
Question Author
Yes he did ! Read the BBC link again ::::

"what it does have to do with is a population that is going through the roof chiefly because of open-door immigration and the fact that the M4 is not as navigable as it used to be."

Quite clear.... no room for any doubt whatsoever. He couldn't have made it any clearer if he tried.

Although what he meant by "not as navigable" is anybodies guess. Perhaps he should have tried getting to Port Talbot by sea ! There is some essential maintenance in at least three places on the M4, which will have held him up, especially if he wasn't aware of it before he left England. He just didn't leave enough time...its as simple as that. We have all been late at some time or the other because we have underestimated the time taken to get somewhere.

Instead of admitting that, he decided to have a go at the immigrants.

Feet firmly in mouth.....again.
Another non-story

Orderlimit...the BBC didn't think and I trust their interpretation of what news is or isn't better than you !

Methyl...you may be right there ! Farage doesn't seem to mind why he is the public eye, as long as he is. He doesn't appear to be plotting any more Tory defections at present, or if he is, he is keeping it very quite. So its any publicity is good publicity !
