Naomi - "andy-hughes, but you have said. You've said that only the nasty minority hold such attitudes."

I think my view would be borne out by proper analysis, not a poll in any national newspaper in the UK, which has a vested interest in tickling inherent racism because it sells papers.

andy-hughes, ignoring ingrained bigotry inherent in one section of the community simply because to acknowledge it doesn't suit your preferred world view does nothing to eradicate it. You think you're defending gay Muslims but in reality you are doing them no favours whatsoever.
Oh gawd. Another post about to be given the kiss of death by the one man A-H Roadshow!!! :-(
"vetuste - "I thought Islam was a religion of peace. I thought the majority of Muslims were tolerant, easy-going people who embrace "British" values. You're not suggesting otherwise are you, Andy? "
No I am not suggesting it.
I am stating it as a fact."
Fact? What knowledge do you have of Islam or Muslims which makes you so certain, Andy? Did you not say some while ago that you know NOTHING about Islam. How many Muslims outside the mercantile class are you acquainted with? Your'e just reciting you two times table, aren't you?
Here's an article by media darling Mehdi Hasan: http://www.newstatesman.com/mehdi-hasan/2013/05/muslim-i-struggle-idea-homosexuality-i-oppose-homophobia
Oops! You're.
Some homework for Andy. See if you can find out:
Q1: what the Koran says about homosexuality?
Q2: what punishments are prescribed by the Sharia for those practising homosexuality?
Q3: in how many Islam majority countries today is homosexuality a crime?
I'll help you out a bit:

Love the last line in that link: "And Allah knows best"!
You could die laughing, couldn't you? Some, of course, do.
I meant die> Don't know they were necessarily laughing at the time.
V-E, // Allah knows best//

That line is used prolifically - but you knew that already.
Naomi - " You think you're defending gay Muslims but in reality you are doing them no favours whatsoever."

You presume to know what I think?
I agree with you, andy. It's impossible to know what you think.
vestute - "What knowledge do you have of Islam or Muslims which makes you so certain, Andy? Did you not say some while ago that you know NOTHING about Islam. How many Muslims outside the mercantile class are you acquainted with? Your'e just reciting you two times table, aren't you?"

I don’t need to know anything about Muslims to know what the law of averages means, and where it applies.

My point is that, contrary to your perceived assertion that I am speaking from a position of strength about the Muslim faith, my position simply states that, if you take a faith with as many adherents as Islam, then you will have a section that will want to take that faith to extremes, not because they are Muslims, but because that is the law of averages in action.

Participation is not obligatory – feel free to step away from the keyboard any time you like.
Svejk - "... It's impossible to know what you think."

Not for me it's not, I can't speak for Naomi though, but either it's impossible for her, or she has a talent that she is wasting on here!

Thank you for your kind invitation. I will and unlike you I will not return to a slanging match that you will always create.
You have built up quite a CV of adjectives in your self opinionated musings haven't you? You now claim to talk with authority on the majority of Muslim's stance on Homosexuality. You say you are talking fact !! I would say you are talking your usual argumentative tosh as has been proved by links provided but you refuse to accept because,as usual, it leaves you with egg on face.
Boring
Tedious
Pompous
Self opinionated
Insulting
Stubborn
Not a CV I would be proud to show my family. Oh well carry on and rack up a few more accolades I will leave this one to you as usual.

Those adjectives are not all mine of course. They are from many others just in case you think I am alone in my opinions. :-)
retrocop - this is a debate about potential government support for gay Muslims.

It is not a platform for you to launch another personal attack because you have taken a severe personal dislike to me.

If you don’t like me, or my views, feel free to ignore me, I have asked you this before, you seem incapable of avoiding getting into a personal slanging match.

Let’s debate the issues, or not, and leave the personal stuff out – how does that sound?
retrocop - "Those adjectives are not all mine of course. They are from many others just in case you think I am alone in my opinions. :-) "

Please see my previous response - I don't care what you think of me, honestly, I don’t.

Save your time trawling to look for phrases to pile onto me, I am not interested. Debate the point, leave out the abuse.

Thanks.
