I wonder how many of our 'OWN' have never been given a chance to enjoy such things?

There must be many who have never even seen their own seasides.

a registered charity and as such entitled to lottery funding along with other registered charities.
Presumably there are other charities that help non-refugees?
Who are the "us"? It's a charity, which can spend its money however it chooses.
And it's funded by the lottery not the tax payer.
If your donating to HRSC then it clearly states on their website that the money will be used for such purposes:

As for National Lottery money being used, I'm pretty sure the Suns exposé of this 'scandal' won't affect the amount taking part in it.
You're.

The 'US' are the good people who give money to charity, and those who pay £2 for a lottery ticket.

Yes charities have the right to spend their money any way they choose, but surely there are much immediate concerns to spend their money on?
But it's a charity set up to specifically do such things. It says so on their website. If you don't like the fact that NL money is being used, don't play.

And where have I said that it is funded by the taxpayer?

But to take you up on your statement do not taxpayers also buy lottery tickets?

///The Hillingdon Refugee Support Group, *part-funded* by the National Lottery.///

I wouldn't be too sure of that, nor for those contributing to the coffers of HRSC either.
AOG, people have free will. They can give to whichever charities they choose or decide not to. There are a significant number of charities providing holidays for,our 'OWN' should they wish to donate to those. People can choose to play the NL, or not.
"But to take you up on your statement do not taxpayers also buy lottery tickets? "

Er, you might want to revisit the logic of that statement ...

The Hillingdon charity is part funded by the lottery and part funded by charitable donations presumably. Good news for those lottery players who hate to think they might be helping refugees TOO much :-)
There are many charities that take children out and about, like these

http://www.leedschildrenscharity.org.uk/
http://www.familyholidayassociation.org.uk/
http://www.theprincipletrust.co.uk/
http://www.hopscotch-charity.org/children-we-help.htm

And, shock!, some of them are part funded by the National Lottery.

Stop being a grinch, AOG, it's nearly Christmas
If people choose not to give to HRSC after (or because of) this insightful journalistic piece then they were either idiots to give in the first place, or should make themselves more aware.
I imagine the Lottery is funding a lot of things that people do - or don't - agree with.
There are many many charities in the country providing help for just about everyone needing it - if you know of a family who may not qualify for the charity linked but need a break, here is one example to try.

A simple search finds many that could help.

Just had a quick look at the 4 links provided by HC, didn't notice the the word Refugee on any of them, I wonder ... .. .
There are charities and 'charities'. This has the scent of a job creation project dressed up as a 'good cause'.
Are job creation projects not good causes anyway?
16K a year. Such a small amount to be getting your knickers in a twist.
