Talbot....I don't care whether AP dressed his granny up and sat her there... I just like the photo .....as a photo.

Do we all take only candid shots?......I pose folk for a photo.....the kids.....the wedding party......the girl's night out photo....

I don't see why my liking the photo AP posted is causing so much knicker twisting......well I do really............☺
What are you going on about?
What knicker twisting?
What's so stunning or amazing about this photograph?

To me it shows a single arrogant female trying to use her sexuality in an attempt to defy the police's request to clear the highway.
The iconic Iwo Juima photo is not exactly a true record.

When the photographer got there, the US flag had already been raised. Then a couple of hours later, a General ordered them to put up a much bigger flag, as the one already up was too small to see. The photographer realised he had the chance to capture the flag raise after all.
So it is iconic but not exactly true .
AOG....I, and others see this as a very brave black lady, standing up to Police Stormtroopers, and asserting her rights. I think its lucky that a photographer was present.

A modern-day Rosa Parks.
Gromit, It’s a picture of servicemen raising a flag. Pretty accurate.

Er, what right does she have to obstruct the highway?
//A modern-day Rosa Parks. //

Oh good grief! It gets worse!!
I post that again, 'cus the C & P didnt work

///and asserting her rights///

Er, what right does she have to obstruct the highway?
Rosa Parks defied the law back in 1955. Most protests are against the laws of the time....that how things are changed.

All the indications are that Philando Castile was executed by a Policeman in Minnesota. I am not excusing violence on either side, but as long as the Police can't be trusted to carry out their duties irrespective of the race of the people they apprehend, we are going to be seeing more of this in the future.

And, . . what right does she have to obstruct the highway?
'police stormtrooper' ???
Mikey, Talbot's link - the words of a black police officer. Educate yourself.

/// I swear more readily and lose my rag more easily ///

Talbot

/// when you come on here all guns blazing. Maybe you need anger management treatment? ///

Perhaps that could be linked to "why do more blacks get shot"?
Tralala, still an amazing photograph. :-) :-)
AOG

Technically what you're doing is called 'trolling'

Regarding the picture, sorry - but I don't think it's that amazing. It tells a story, but it doesn't strike me as all that iconic.
SP...time will tell if it turns out to be iconic or not....its probably too early to be sure yet !
Actually...I take that back. I've just read the Facebook page of the journalist (Shaun King) who posted the picture.

There was something I didn't clock about the picture...and now I've seen his text, I get the point.

There is a clever bit of subtext...I just didn't see it.
It is obvious to me that people are not judging the photograph but are giving their opinion on US policing and Black Lives Matter.

It's like dismissing the Mona Lisa on the grounds that the model was a prostitute.

/// very brave black lady ///

Would you have bothered mentioning her colour had it been a white lady, or perhaps in that case you wouldn't have mentioned the photo period?

/// Stormtroopers, ///

????????????????????????

We all know that you have very little time for the police, why? only you knows the answer to that, but it is generally that those who think this way have experienced some past confrontation with the law.

/// I am not excusing violence on either side, but as long as the Police can't be trusted to carry out their duties irrespective of the race of the people they apprehend, ///

And isn't that just what the police are trying to do in this photo?

'CARRYING OUT THEIR DUTIES'
