I still prefer the plastic bag for some women !!

Do you have any evidence of that - apart from the media-fed mass of anecdotal gossip that swirls around the internet, and pubs and supermarkets in this country?
Get yourself on Twitter and follow some Muslim women better still ex Muslim women, they give a much better insight than the I have Muslims friends brigade on here.

/// I'm sure the Debenhams in Newcastle will do a roaring trade. I just hope the brains behind 'Modest fashion' doesn't get all upset like at the sight of hoards of geordie lasses getting mortal wearing a belt for a skirt a titty top and an hijab ...///
What a brilliant suggestion, perhaps then a certain ABer will send Debenhams a letter demanding that they remove the said garment from sale, because "it could very possibly cause upset and offence".
Job done.

Naomi - //andy-hughes, it wasn’t ‘years ago’, but it created such hilarity that once seen never forgotten – and your letter achieved its aim. You had the offending slippers removed from sale.
Allow me to know that the incident itself was years ago, but the reference to it on here was rather more recent.
I am pleased it made you laugh - although I question your sense of humour, but never mind.
I have no idea if my one letter caused the removal from sale of the items - you do flatter me, I prefer to think that mine was one of several complaints, I doubt they would remove an item from sale because one person wrote a letter.
Maybe I have more power than I realise!!

Since your reference is obviously to me - I would point out that I didn't write a letter 'demanding' anything - so both you and Naomi are not allowing the facts to get in the way of another off-thread personal dig.
I wouldn't bother writing anything about anything 'possibly causing offence' - I wrote specifically because an item for sale offended me personally - but again, don't let simple things like facts get in the way of you steering away from the subject being discusses to get in another of your pointless petty digs which you enjoy so much.

'Maybe you are worried that wearing them will lead to some non-Muslims being converted into jihadists.' ...Maybe before making such glib observations, you'll spare a thought for all the woman and children who are beaten for not wearing a hijab.
There is of course absolutely no logic in your point.but as a wind-up merchant you probably know that.
So you seem now to be concerned about women who are beaten for not wearing a hijab. And yet you don't want Debenhams to sell some. I don't get it

andy-hughes, here you are – from October 2016. //I wrote a stinking letter to my local British Homestores store because they were selling slippers with the words OLD and GIT embroidered on them.//

And this is not a personal dig – simply a response to your post at 09:06.

There’s no logic in that! Let’s not protest in the strongest terms because women are being beaten – just help them out by selling the clothes they need to prevent them being beaten!

Maybe we should ask Muslim women who wear the hajib whether they want to or not?
I found Nadya's comments on 'The Chronicles of Nadya' quite illuminating.
It's odd how some people think they know so much about Muslim women and their attitudes to traditional dress.
I personally think the burka is horrible, but head coverings can look spectacular especially when framing a beautiful face (think Nadya and her magnificent 'musical eyebrows').
I like Nadya (can you tell?)
