Surely the most likely reason is that it's far more open now- years ago, nobody would have known, let alone be able to attack them for it.

No but I get fed up with all the blame being put on the indigenous population, whilst any blame placed at immigrants is shied upon.

It seems just the opposite, aog. Any crime anywhere, you are quick to blame any other colour, religion, culture, sex- except your own.
What is the proportion that have been committed by "foreigners" of whatever definition that is... compared with indigenous?

i think its being reported more
but my opinion its that the thugs who do these attacks will pick on any minority ,whether they are "different" in their gender,colour or fashion sense

I am not saying that the indigenous peoples are squeaky clean far from it, but it is a fact that there has been a huge increase in certain crimes since this country became multi-racial/multicultural.

The 'Far-right' (however it may be constituted) are exceedingly untolerant of 'the likes of me'.

I'll tell you something for nothing, I have never been abused/assaulted by anyone from a Foreign culture......I can't say the same about my own indigenous countrymen and women.......sadly.

saw a couple interviewed on breakfast telly yesterday, and the older one said he was shocked at how in this day and age there were still people out there who thought it was ok to attacked people because of their sexuality.

Both of the men interviewed, claimed they had been assaulted due to their sexual orientation.

If you can find the links that show the majority are committed by "foreigners"- that would be a huge help, aog. Otherwise, it's just pointless speculation.

But I didn't I merely asked a question, so as to put it up for debate.

I personally think it could be a factor, due to some nations extreme views on homosexuals etc.

I suspect a good deal of it is due not necessarily to a shift in issues against LGBT but mainly because people are more open about it and more inclined to report or talk about abuse they've received. Not necessarily to the police, mind -- apparently 4 out of 5 incidents of abuse that LGBT people claim to have experienced they don't go on to report to the police. But if there's more openness (and so more exposure to the gits among us) and more willingness to recognise abuse when it occurs, then naturally rates could rise independent of other factors.

I should just add that I'm not claiming the entirety of the rise is due to better awareness, but I don't doubt it's a contributing factor.

You are stating the complete obvious, of course you can't and I never said you could.

But this seems rapid enough for me in such a short time.
