Your serving with the regiment, the regiment is Not serving with you. Fall in line, or, fall out.

Anne, could you decrypt your post please?
Going off subject matter here but are the bearskins faux fur or made from actual bears?
'tis Tradition Gromit... the nation loves tradition and pageantry
I think faux these days
Ceremonial uniforms are rather anachronistic and belong to a different era. The forces should be up to date and battle ready.
There only function now is for acting and please the US tourists.
Scrap them all (Including the turban) and save the country a fortune.

The tourism industry in London in particular would argue that they they make a sizeable fortune as a direct result of such ceremony, uniforms and traditions.
If people want to dress in 17th century kit they should join a re-enactment society.
Cards on the table, I'm completely gruntled.

Thanks for being there.
Probably faux these days. My academic hood is liberally trimmed with genuine rabbit fur but not now. The modern ones don't look half as smart and are nowhere near as soft and cuddly.
It would seem that in Ireland they are not so accommodating.

now you're being grumpy Gromit !
Gromit, //If people want to dress in 17th century kit they should join a re-enactment society. //

Remind me to remember you said that… just for future reference. ;o)

There’s a huge element of national pride in wearing a ceremonial military uniform, and rightly so in my opinion. I love tradition.
ahhh..Jack..gies a cuddle !
But Trooping the Colour actually IS a re-enactment, Gromit.
There were a lot of things that were popular in the 17th century, but we have progressed. Traditions can be modified and very quickly the changes are accepted, as this one will be.

The ‘don’t ever change anything or we will cease to be British’ mentality is a burden. We are not living in a historical theme park, but you would think so the way some people cry at the slightest change of detail.
if it works..don't fix it... continuity and tradition are good for the soul !
In my student days I had a boyfriend in the Grenadier Guards and went along to Trooping the Colour to watch him marching. Fat chance of spotting him!! Blinking uniforms!! :o)
aside.. my EX nearly stopped the trooping..one of the stands was unsafe and he served a prohibition order 'till it was made good at the 11th hour..he nearly went to the tower !!
alas..the time has come to don my uniform and leave you good folks... see you later...xx
All female military personnel should parade in burkas. Now there's inclusiveness for you!
The Sikhs wore turbans when fighting with us in WW2 so why not wear one on parade.
