Going back to 2012 when a Sikh became the first guardsman to wear a turban on ceremonial duty, he actually wanted to wear the bearskin headdress but his superiors forced him to wear his turban so as to make some kind of statement.
I know this to be true because I heard it from a Guardsman who served beside him.

The Sikhs wore turbans when fighting with us in WW2 so why not wear one on parade.

Indeed they did. What’s more, the non-Sikh officers(white) wore the EXACT same turban and dress, ditching their forage caps. Why did they do so? In order to maintain cameraderie, uniformity and promote a sense of brotherhood.

The old Churches and Cathedrals, and Stately Homes are fine. They have been modified to include new innovations like electricity and central heating. They are still fit for purpose because they have kept up with the times.
It has been decreed that Sikhs can join the Guards, and a slight update to the dress code is therefore needed to make that possible.

The bearskin hats are still made with real fur. There is an annual cull of bears in Canada where thousands are killed to keep them in check. the brigade of Guards take 100 every year, other material has been tried but apparently nothing comes remotely close to matching the natural properties of real fur.
