Let's leave aside the possible disguise that these things provide for terrorists. I find it offensive to see people going around in the UK masked up. I find it especially so as the reason given (in this case) is to prevent males being overcome with lust at the sight of a female face. We don't do that in the UK and there are plenty of places in the world where it is acceptable to all and does not frighten children or the horses.

Maybe getting on a bus or train will become like going through an airport- passport checks/eye scans, luggage searches, body scans for secreted items, liquid restrictions, proof of an appointment/at the end of your visit
