Poor foreign driver had no idea how ruined this country is.

"Was It In Order For This Bus Driver To Ask His Passenger To Remove Her Veil?" - yes, perfectly reasonable request in a civilised society. The problem is that TROB have now empowered TROP women to use the veil as a weapon against us. Disgusting.

Of course black people are a race.

Race Categories

Black or African American: A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa. Terms such as "Haitian" or "***" can be used in addition to "Black or African American".

For the reasons he gave he should at least have been offered diversity and customer relations retraining rather than the sack. However if he asked her to show her face to prove she was the person on a photo bus pass that would have been appropriate. He would then be within his rights to refuse to allow her to travel

Good grief, it gets sillier by the day.

/// Then you'd both be in the wrong, david small. ///

In your opinion and you may have others that agree with you, but that doesn't mean it is the correct opinion.

Please allow others to voice their own opinions on the matter.
AOG - The bus-driver is in the wrong and if david small did the same thing, he'd similarly be in the wrong.

We are talking about what the driver *did/said* nothing more than that.....that would be an entirely different conversation; one which is had with monotonous regularity on AnswerBank.

I have never known a religion that carries the track record and baggage that this one does, gain such support and protection by so many.

Any one care to tell me why it is?
-- answer removed --
Who supports and protects it?

And does it have anything to do with the bus driver, or have you now decided to jettison that strand and go full-on for the 'Muslim=Bad" thrust which garners so much comment from the usual suspects?
Jack the hat. In your cosy little world it would be nice to do, and wear what we please. Unfortunately it ain’t so.
I repeat no veil on public transport.
With you david.

There you go again... in your opinion.

/// We are talking about what the driver *did/said* nothing more than that..... ///

And this is what he said, nothing at all untoward. even though he was being illegally filmed and set on by two Muslim females, plus two others whose religion isn't mentioned.

/// The full conversation between the bus driver and Muslim passenger ///

/// Driver: 'Why are you taking a picture? Because I've expressed my opinion? You can take my picture. Do you want my phone number?'

Woman 1: 'I'm recording you so we can report you later on.'

Driver: 'I don't get it.'

Woman 2 '(wearing a hijab): I don't understand why you care [how she's dressed]. It's her choice what she wears.'

Driver: 'I care because this world is dangerous. If you don't see somebody's face, that's not good. In this time we live...'

Woman 2: 'It's her choice. You get to choose what you want to wear.'

Driver: 'It's not about choice here.

Woman 2: 'It is a choice, actually. It's not any of your business just how she's dressed.'

Woman 1: 'You're a member of the public.'

Driver: 'How I can see your face, you can see my face. We should see our faces. It's exactly how...'

Woman 2: 'She doesn't want you to see her face, that's her choice then.'

Driver: [walks away and talks to supervisor]

Woman 1 : 'I'm recording an incident of racism to report later on. I have the right to do that.'

Woman 3: 'He is basically saying she might blow up the bus. That's what he just said.'

Driver talking to supervisor: [inaudible] 'It's nothing about racism here. This world, in this time, you don't understand?'

Woman 4: 'He's just racist, man.'

Manager: 'I will chat with you later.'

Gets my vote David.
He wasn't being illegally filmed.

He was wrong in demanding that she remove her veil. Legally/professionally wrong, as agreed by his employers.

The moral/societal argument is an entirely different animal.

He talks some sense.
Perhaps you meant to ask 'Should Bus companies change their rules?'

The answer to the question you did pose is - No, he was not in order, as his employers have stated.

//First Bus has now apologised, saying the driver made a huge mistake and has been censured through the company's disciplinary procedures.//
I blame Boris. When a member of the establishment pokes fun at the dress code of a minority it was inevitable that something like this would happen.
the original question was
'Was It In Order For This Bus Driver To Ask His Passenger To Remove Her Veil?'

The irrefutable answer is 'No' for two reasons, it's not illegal to wear such 'garb' at the moment, and it was against bus company policy.

Everything else is conjecture and opinion.
