Even after 27 years he will be able to live a life after raping and murdering this poor six year old, lets just hope the hand wringers have been expunged from any decision making by then.

Probably because their ending is their personal choice.
// Animals go quite peacefully after being given an injection. //
Because they have no understanding of what is happening to them.
// Why keep someone locked up for ever in prison. ? /
Two reasons - the first is to isolate them from the society in which they have proved themselves unfit and unable to live, and secondly, because murdering murderers is not the action of a civilised society.

If they have proved themselves unfit and unable to live with society
then they are no use to society whatsoever like so much rubbish and should be executed by the state. Not Murder by the state but retribution.

Although we know capital punishment doesn’t exist in this country, I agree with Andres - and if a lethal injection is likely, as douglas says, to create suffering (although we seem to be good at it for animals), then give him a general anaesthetic before administering the dose. That way he'll know nothing about it. I have no sympathy for him whatsoever. Society would be better off without him.

Because a civilised society does not 'value' a life in that way.
A civilised society elects to incarcerate its murderers because the alternative is to do what they have done.
The murderer has acted for a variety of reasons, but none of them include deliberated institutional murder by a group of people of sound mind - so to avoid us becoming murderers in our turn, we undertake the cost of incarceration instead.
