Does he really think that banning flights from the Schengen area is going to limit Covid cases in the USA? Has no-one told him that Covid is no respecter of boundaries? Of course he wouldn't want to include flights from the UK in the ban as that would upset his mate Boris. I despair of his intelligence.

How Catholic is the Pope?
-- answer removed --
It's about minimising risk. But banning travel everywhere, quarantining areas/towns, and rapid virus checks, would minimise the risk further.
The pope isn't catholic at all. Learnt that from QI.
Measures have to be proportionate to the actual threat level. Is breaking self-isolation or voluntary quarantine a crime if you don't actually have the disease? No. So how can it be enforced, if it even should be?

Even locking down the borders is a problem, because your own tourists abroad would still be entitled to return to their place of residence, thus possibly spreading the disease anyway. And the final rather sad fact is that if a threat is only perceived rather than real it's hard for the public to take it seriously and to therefore respect the stringent measures required to deal with it.

Ah, found the link, ttt, spice and other non-readers...

It was you ttt, who mentioned quaranting them here, not me!!
Why oh why doesn’t he - or anyone else diddly doesn’t like - seek her advice on all things?
You just know who’s going to have a pop at Messrs Trump and Johnson when they’ve headlined either good or not so good
I’m always right too :0)

OK Naomi - perhaps you'd like to defend Trump's actions re Covid thus far?
THECORBYLOON"But when it comes to something that might kill vulnerable people, we allow it in straightway."

What do you suggest? Check every arrival in the UK? Quarantine them all for twenty-four days?12:35 Tue 03rd Mar 2020

pixie374At least... although too late now.12:37 Tue 03rd Mar 2020

I can read just fine.

Bobbisox - I don't recall being involved in a Trump thread until now.
Not even a Brexit one Diddlydo ?
Nothing to defend diddly. I imagine this has been discussed between him and his advisors and is simply an exercise in damage limitation.
Question Author
This thread is about Trump, not Brexit - just in case you hadn't noticed.
Lol... well done, spice!! It is too late once we have allowed it in, of course. Did you read my posts before that, though? Will you admit that I never suggested quarantining anyone here?
Oh I noticed Diddlydo, how could I not :0/
The thread may not be about Brexit diddly but you still bring Boris into it as usual even though Trump didn't.
pixie, on that thread you advocated closing the borders, presumably as soon as someone sneezes in China, it was pointed out by several people that that was not practical.
Stop digging, Pixel. ;-)xx
"Presumably" always means an insane suggestion is about to follow... that was never actually said.
Once it was confirmed there... personally, I would not have allowed anyone in, until I knew they were clear for a month. I don't care how over- cautious it might sound. We could have kept it out of Britain, if we had wanted to.
