How Naive Is Trump?
Does he really think that banning flights from the Schengen area is going to limit Covid cases in the USA? Has no-one told him that Covid is no respecter of boundaries? Of course he wouldn't want to include flights from the UK in the ban as that would upset his mate Boris. I despair of his intelligence.

Switching from "it wil go away" to more definite policies (such as limiting international travel) appear to me to be abandoning naivety, rather than continuing to display it.

pixie: yes but if you did that then it means that those that arrive must be put somewhere. You had no answer to that, I said quarantine because that's what it's called when someone arrives and are not allowed in. They have to go somewhere. So when we "shut up shop" as you suggest what do we do with those already in the air? on the way? at any one time there are at least 1m people on the air, many of them on the way to UK what should we do with them when they arrive? what about ships, do we turn them away? Stop digging love!
Not long ago the whole thing was grossly overblown, would soon go away and, anyway, the USA doesn't do problems under Trump. And now people and packages/freight from Schengen are apparently banned from entering the USA - and it won't affect trade. That's because (courtesy of a former incumbent) most of the imports come from overseas (but quite a few don't).
Ttt... and believe me, as I'm sure you can tell, this is not my expertise, just common sense, and like last time, I am quite prepared to be persuaded I'm wrong.
As naomi has just said, a couple of days notice, and people wouldn't be on the planes. Don't let anyone on, unless they are clear. They would obviously be quarantined in whichever country they were in originally- otherwise there is a risk it would be brought here anyway.
Tough, maybe, but so is people dying here, unnecessarily.

Not at all, ttt...but it would be nice if someone could genuinely explain, why we allowed it here at all. So far, it just seems to be apathy to me. Why is possible for Trump to ban flights in, but not for us to do that originally? These are genuine questions... I appreciate this is not my specialist subject... but I also have not yet got a proper answer from anyone else either...
