That told me nothing at all, I waited and hoped you’d give us something ‘new’ yet everything you said, we’d been aware of already ......
Pleased he’s increased the fines to those that think they’re immune !

//Us oldies should use our heads, I think. I shall remain doing what I have been doing for 7 weeks now. If I was fit and well I would go out and keep my distance.// Bob on Apc. Just told "she who must be obeyed" that we are freeee. First though I will buy two walking sticks(we do not need them) and wave them about aggressively if any git come near us when we are out and...

Danny, //Naomi, unless they were classified as 'extremely vulnerable'.//

bobbi made reference to //those with no underlying health problems// in her question. It didn’t need repeating.

Pasta, //Do we...the over 70s...need permission to move more freely?//

No.
I've done all my own shopping as I can't be bothered to faff around trying to find an online slot 2-3 weeks hence and then have the order turn up minus crucial items as has happened to a number of friends. My daughter regularly berates me for going out at all!
Diddly, is there any reason that you shouldn't go shopping?
Hopefully the new guidance will cut down on the 15,000 penalty fines that have been imposed.

We are fortunate that my daughter does any shopping we need ,im happy to do exactly as we’re told to do, and will
Danny - yes because I'm over 70, as is my husband who has underlying medical problems (though not one of the seriously vulnerable and shielding people)
// and then have the order turn up minus crucial items //

know what you mean.

"we didn't have any Jif Lemons. so here's a rat instead"

// What did you want him to say, bobbi?//
yeah I was thinking about this too,

a rather spiteful ( remind you of anyone) review in the Times (QL) today said that it (PMz broadcast) was like a Biology module in the OU - and I was moved to comment sulkily " done that and they are much better, actually"
and secondly
every little jot north of the border is quibbled at - and made into a demand for Scots Independence ( wrote QL)

I am confused by
PM, the Blessed Boris doing up his zip: you can go back to work!
Laura Kuenzberg - you are looking tired Boris, hard work upstairs?
2 Hack : does that mean we cant go to work
PM lorks a lordy - no you can work! jolly hard and pay taxes
3 Hack can we work then PM - do you for example ?
PM I work plenty hard - have you seen the baby's doo dah?
1,2,3 Hack together - bottom! - bottoms up PM !
PM clean as a whist (omnes: see below)le ! I hoover as well.....
the broadcast goes on - but to me the message was clear:
"Work harder damn you!" PM screams

so what headline would I have headlined?
watch out posters!

England confused as Boris says " Suntne Angli?"
Yeah Ancient Latin to you proles - they spoke it here 2000 y ago, so theres culture for you ! - you will ALL end up loathing Latin - worse than Frog-talk which is bad enough for eleven y olds

dux anglorum ieri vesperi inquit: (1)
Britannicos domi manendum esse! (2), (3)

1)Last night the prime minister said ....angli a bit late but this is AB!
2) Britons - I wanted England but there appear not to be a word. domi is locative ( yeah look that one up in Kennedy) -comes up in Monty Python - in the Romans go home scene
3) gerund - since there isnt an object. I am not sure if a gerundive construction is allowed. "Britannicos manendos" - the staying at home Britons
and hey boys I put it in oratio obliqua all by myself
( wont say what that is - too much ciceronian detail )

well sozza readers for those who have arrived here: someone said "What did you want him to say, "
an ya gart it

Did I really spend all morning writing Latin - well read some of the other gormless beyond belief posts on this thread and you will agree - it was time well spent ! Have a good day cavilling, posters

Ha done it !

ael googles cavilling ...
I knew that already Naomi. It was really directed at anyone who thinks we do need permission.
Especially for Bobbie (See YMFs thread for the confused)

At 3.44 today pm

The Prime Minister has stressed that people in at risk groups should continue to limit contact with people outside their homes. This includes those who are clinically vulnerable, including pregnant women, those over 70.

He also said - reiterating guidelines in today's new strategy - that those who are "extremely vulnerable" need to stay at home for the foreseeable future.

Thank you Apc, I’m watching it now ,and because he’s gone through his 50 page documents, I find it enlightening and much clearer , the first post on here was a rather nasty ‘the penny drops’ I’m no fool and I wanted to hear it in depth which is what I’m currently doing, my age group has been mentioned which was a major point of mine last night and today, I’m more than happy what I’m hearing
// the first post on here was a rather nasty ‘the penny drops’ I’m no fool//

ignore them bobs dont take it so personally - the egg wipes off and it is all tomorrows fish papers ( yeah if written on papers and the local chippie were open)
Hey I can put that into Latin

noli illegitimi carborundum !

kisses mwah mwah
He will be criticised whatever he says or does. Nobody can see into the future. It s up to each one of us to safeguard ourselves and family and not put others to unnecessary risk. Do people expect a Nanny State?

Back atchya PP :0)
//I wish he'd allow vets to open properly again.//

There are no restrictions on vets opening.

//As for construction there is still a problem that Builders Merchants are not open//

Some are. And there is no requirement for them to close anyway.

//Naomi, unless they were classified as 'extremely vulnerable'.//

There are no regulations that discriminate between “vulnerable”, “extremely vulnerable” and “young and fit as a fiddle.” There is advice, but no regulations.

All this (and more, including another question where it was asked if it is OK to have decorators in) demonstrates to me that there is huge amounts of confusion. The line has been (deliberately?) blurred between advice and legislation. There are people on AB who think they risk being fined if they step out of their front door. However that has arisen, it’s a disgrace.

Finally, is there a prize for the most inane answer of the year?:

//Do you think when the dinosaurs saw the meteorite coming t wipe their existence that their thoughts were with the economy?//
I said 'properly' NJ. At the moment they are only allowing emergencies and you have to wait outside in your car and pay by 'phone (whatever that means). My dog needs his anal glands emptying on a regular basis and they won't do it because it's not an emergency. Well it will be when they become impacted and this is worrying for me. I can't understand why vets are so 'precious' when supermarkets are staying open and the NHS are working flat out. They always bleat on about how animal welfare is their 'priority' - well not at the moment it's not.
Well you see, if they close, or sort of, they can claim all this free money that's there for the taking. :0) got to be in it to win it.
I agree iluvmargie. It would be easy to organise. they could mask up and wear ppe and clients could wait in their cars and could be phoned to come in, covering their faces. Minimal human contact. No need to use a waiting room. Waiting for an issue to become an emergency is just awful.
Margie are you brave enough to have a go yourself? Several of my friends (men) do it and tell me it's easy.
Never done it myself though,

Let us know how you get on if you to have a go.
