That told me nothing at all, I waited and hoped you’d give us something ‘new’ yet everything you said, we’d been aware of already ......

You have to wonder why so many people are commuting 50 miles to work everyday- I'm sure they are not all NHS staff and shopworkers and some wort of homeworking should be possible for a fair number- in fact that has been happening and has often worked well . This may also focus people's minds on whether to find work nearer home in the longer term

Err to put food on the table maybe?
I have had to work all over the place in the UK and in Bruxelles, Paris and Frankfurt as well as a spell in NY. Should I have stayed where I was on a paltry salary then?
Diddly does have a point on the commuter trains although if following Boris advice if you only travel if you cannot work from home that should alleviate a lot of the over crowding. Problem then comes when you get to the underground as it is running a reduced service as there are not enough staff.

Northampton is 66 miles from London. Before the lockdown, between 6-30 and 8am there were 9 trains to London, 6 of which loaded to 12 cars and the rest to 8 cars. all these trains were full and standing from Milton Keynes.

//ymb, contravention of rules laid down by the government in relation to social distances etc. //
what you can be fined for contravening is in regulations 4,5 and 7 of the regulations, as set out in regulation 8:-

oddly enough, social distancing is not mentioned or defined in the regulations, but in the supporting guidance note.

Bobbi. the advice to stay home applies to most people, but although the over 70s, because of their age, were actively encouraged to follow the advice more stringently, they weren’t confined under law. They have throughout been able to go shopping or to go out for exercise. If they so choose they may still do those things - and from Wednesday for longer.
Do we...the over 70s...need permission to move more freely? I know there are plenty by me who've been out and about doing their shopping all through this. I suspect if I didn't have a scaredy dog, I'd have been out a bit more often. Or, maybe not. My daughter would give me hell if she thought I was going out.
